No Photographer!! (rant Only)

I am so sorry but it almost sounds like a scam. I can't imagine a wedding photographer charging only $350 unless it's not their full-time job, they are new or wedding photography isn't their specialty. Did you have a contract with her?


As for finding a new photographer, you will likely have to pay more than $350 but one option would be to use a student who's learning photography. Or see if you can find new photographers who are just looking to build their profile as they are going to be cheaper than a photographer whose been doing this for years.

That’s so disappointing to lose a vendor. Luckily, you still have 7 months to find a new one! You were planning to pay your previous photographer $700 (for both engagement and wedding). So perhaps you could find a professional wedding photographer to shoot for just a couple hours for that price. Then you would at least get great pro photos of the ceremony and photos with family & WP right after.

I would research colleges that are local to you and see if any of them have a photography program. Sometimes student photographers are looking to add to their portfolios and will do an event for a lot less money.

Sorry that this happened! Like Cece said, if you were planning to pay $700 total, you could find someone else in that price range. Check Facebook groups for local weddings (search for groups named something like, "[city/area name] weddings" or "[city/area name] brides"), and put a post with your wedding date, budget, and what you're looking for. You should get replies from available vendors in your price range.

I agree with other posters - look at college students IN THE PHOTOGRAPHY FIELD who are hoping to boost their portfolio ... especially seniors!! My friend's son is a senior in college and has been posting his services for a reasonable price just for this reason. I am so sorry you have had to go through this so close to your special day. Best of luck, and fingers crossed you find something/someone in your budget. A P.S. to this - I hired a videographer that was just starting out - they only had 2 weddings 'under their belt'. He did an amazingly perfect job, exactly what I wanted (just the ceremony) and the price was less than half of what I had been quoted by other big name productions. Trust your gut and again, good luck!

Thank you all for your kind words. I contacted my niece (one of my bridesmaids) and she come through for me. She was raised up in beauty pageants, and now she host beauty pageants. And she has connections with many photographers. She found me one. I am very excited to work with this photographer and his wife. He and his wife recently started their photography business and I have seen some of his work. And from what I have seen, I know I am gonna be happy with him and his wife. I spoke with him earlier today after work. His offer is:
