No (local) Friends...

Lil Bug, on April 8, 2019 at 1:56 AM Posted in Washington Planning 0 7

So I recently moved from LA to Seattle and I haven't been able to make any friends in Seattle. Now I'm engaged and trying to find people to go with me to look for wedding dresses, and I'm finding myself coming up short. My family live across the Puget Sound and can't afford to come to Seattle to shop with me and I'm not really interested in any of the shops in their part of town... Is it a bad idea to go alone? Should I break the rules and just bring my fiance? Does anyone want to be my friend? Lol?

Awe, I’d be your friend for sure Smiley kiss . I would be happy to attend fittings with you as well. I’m available most weekends if those are the days that you’ll be going for fittings.

For myself, personally, I wouldn’t break the rules and invite my significant other. I like the idea of the initial shock of my husband seeing me for the first time in my dress. Because I live pretty far from my family and out of town besties, I ended up going for fittings by myself when I married almost 3 years ago. However, I have heard it working out for the best to bring your significant other as s/he may know what looks good on you and your body type without her/him losing the initial shock on the actual wedding day.

I think you you should definitely weigh out your options figure out what your comfortable with.

Aww! Girl I would love to be your friend and go dress shopping with you! I've been to so many dress stores in Seattle and I feel like a semi pro already haha. Hit me up!

I did go dress shopping alone for myself when I found my dress as I was in a similar boat as you. In the beginning, I took my fiance with me as we do everything together and I hate surprises. But I hated the first dress I bought and hated that he saw it already. Now my second dress is so perfect and I found it on my solo shopping trip!

You get it! My fiance and I do literally everything together, but I would really like to have some things be a nice surprise for him on the wedding day. I went with my mother and sister to the David's Bridal in Tacoma to try on a few dresses and we took pictures and I showed them to him because I knew none of them were the one and I do want his opinion on shape and style, but ultimately I want THE dress to be a surprise. However, I'm nervous to go by myself because wedding dresses are way out of my element. I definitely need someone to give me a second opinion.

I think keeping the dress a surprise is fantastic! Even I'm looking forward to my fiance seeing me in the dress I chose! If you are nervous to go solo, then definitely take someone with you so no one takes over the appointment or you don't feel completely lost.

What did you end up doing? I really liked having other people there to give me helpful opinions and be another set of eyes but I honestly think this is up to you and your FH. I would love to go shopping with you if you're still looking! I just took my cousin two weeks ago and we found her beautiful gown Smiley heart
