No kiddos for a flower girl or ring bearer

Soon-To-Be-Mrs-Sherritt, on May 29, 2018 at 6:09 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

My fiance and I are both the oldest of our extended cousins and the first of our friends to get engaged. This means we don't have any little ones in our lives to be part of the bridal party as a flower girl or ring bearer. Neither of us have pets either.

I am looking for ideas to make the ring-bringing fun.

I've heard people using their grandparents. We didn't have a flower girl or ring bearer.

Hi Michaela! Welcome to the WeddingWire Community! Smiley ring If you don't have anyone to fill the traditional flower girl/ring bearer role, then that is fine! Just proceed without one! You should check out this Flower Girl Yes or No Discussion for further guidance on the topic!

    Good luck!

Or maybe have MOH and BM walk down together with a cute sign/the ring box

Not sure about gun ideas, but I feel this role is pretty unnecessary. We're just had BM and MOH hold onto our respective rings.

No ring bearer here either. Best man will keep them.

I’m actually on the other end, I have too many young cousins to pick from and don’t want to have them all, so we are opting out. I just bought a double ring box for the best man to hold.

FH and I were the same. We also don't have any grandparents we could ask (we saw it at another wedding and really liked the way to tie them into the ceremony more). So, we're doing two ladies that are like his moms (he lost him mom 12 years ago) as flower girls and then my mom (MOB) as ring bearer. The two flower "girls" were psyched. My mom is super nervous, but I think (secretly) excited that she gets a bigger part in the ceremony than being sat at the beginning of the processional.

Also, we just went to a co-workers wedding who had no flower girls or ring bearers. I actually didn't even notice it until now when I was thinking of hers specifically.

    Good luck!!

We're having my older cousins be the flower girls. We're super close and I loved the idea of including more family. I also thought they would have the most fun with it. Instead of throwing petals, they'll be carrying a few long stem white roses and handing them to people as they walk down the aisle.

Don't have them. I think 2 weddings I went to last year had them, and honestly, I would have rather they didn't. They took FOREVER to walk down the aisle and in one wedding the flower girl cried hysterical before, was barely holding it together during, and then as soon as the aisle walk was done was whisked away. Most weddings I've been to don't have anything like the flower girl/ring bearer anymore. It honestly wasn't until I joined these forums that I realized it still happened regularly. I thought they had completely fallen out of fashion. I certainly don't plan on having any sort of flowergirl/ring bearer and I doubt anyone will bat an eye.
