Need some advice, embarrassing.

AshleyG2013, on August 21, 2013 at 8:06 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 27

Ok so my underarms are dark. I have blonde hair but they are dark, makes no sense. It doesnt matter when I shave, they always look bad. I am very very embarrassed by it. I rarely wear sleeveless shirts, tank tops anything because of this. I went to the beach one day and 3 of the people I was with told me I forgot to shave and I had just done it that morning. I don't know what to do! I do not want it to be like that on our wedding day Smiley sad

Maybe try waxing a couple days before the wedding? Maybe try it out now and see if it helps.

If your going to wax start now! I have the same issue, dark dark underarms. I naturally have dark hair so it sux. make sure you go to a place that has an esthetician or someone trained in hair removal. You'd think it's easy but they will know ways to remove the hair without it hurting as much. It will hurt but not as much as you think. Plus its over in a couple seconds. Make sure you go now though. The more times you do it the easier it will be

My mom swears by that Dove deodorant. We have dark hair and medium skin, so it comes with the territory, unfortunately. I am under orders to wear only that until my wedding day and supposedly it will make a marked difference.

My two main suggestions have already been taken--try waxing instead, and try a new deodorant.

I spent a long time being afraid to go sleeveless because I have super fat arms (not even in proportion to the rest of my body!). Lately, I've been going sleeveless anyway because it's been so hot out. It's taken courage, but I'm happier dealing with my insecurity and being more comfortable, than I was wearing long sleeves in the summer. If anyone has the gall to approach you and ask you if you've shaved, tell them to mind their own business!!

The dove does nothing for me.

I understand how you feel, mine are the same way, my underarm hair is so dark, the stubble shows under my skin and it looks like I didn't shave. It also grows ridiculously fast. Waxing is something I have thought of too.

It's probably the hair follicle under your skin. The suggestions above, like waxing, may help. Try sooner, rather than later - you can try multiple things.

I was given the dove deodorant for free when I bought my dress last year at DB and was shocked that it really did work. I've used nothing else sense.

I had dark under arms as well but one of the most effective ways to lighten underarms is to rub them with lemon juice every day before taking a bath. Lemon is a natural bleaching agent and will slowly lighten the area. After your bath, use moisturizer to soften the skin and skip the deodorant for a few days. Potato also works as a natural bleaching agent. You can either rub underarm skin with thinly sliced potatoes, or grate the potato and apply the juice to the affected area. Leave it on for 15 minutes and wash. You will notice that soon the underarm skin appears to be lighter in colour. Similarly, you can grate a cucumber and apply the juice under your arms. However, If your dark underarms are a result of dead cell accumulation, the best way to treat this is to use whitening scrubs. Select a scrub for sensitive skin, such as Nivea, St Ives and Everyuth Naturals.

Waxing should work. Laser hair removal should too. Groupon always has laser treatment offers.

Waxing is great! I do it for vacation. I'd start now and go a couple time before the wedding, which I see is fast approaching! So exciting!!! Only hurts for a few minutes after, unless you have sensitive skin I would be cautious because you get a rash:/. Though it may not help if it's just that your skin is darker under the arms. Good luck!

I did the laser hair removal under my arms years ago and I love it to this day. It hurt a little, but not as bad as waxing in my opinion. Worth a shot!

( aesthetician here ) WAX, WAX, WAX! Waxing is an excellent way to help remedy this problem! A plus is that your underarm hair will grow back looking less dark and thick! I have super fair skin, and super dark and coarse hair. I will never shave again! Start ASAP and keep it up! You will feel so much better!! Smiley smile
