Need ideas to reserve seats for ceremony

Kristen, on August 16, 2012 at 2:41 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5

Hey ladies,

We are not having ushers, and I want to make sure that the front rows of seats are reserved for family members and readers. I think most people will know this, but just in case.

I don't really want to deal with tying a sign on each seat...so do you think just one sign, on the first chair on each side of the aisle, saying "this row reserved for parents and readers" is good enough? Or do I really need to have a sign on X number of seats?

I think that should be just fine. U don't need to put a reserved sign on each chair. That's just silly. But make sure u put them on the back of the chair so your guests will be sure to see them. Good Luck and Congrats. Smiley smile

What about a ribbon going across the row to block it off? If your chairs don't have arms then just move the first chair on either side forward a few inches and tie the ribbon in between the chairs so it stands up, away from the rest of the row.

One wedding I went to they put a bow on the end of the rows reserved for family and nothing on the other rows. No one but family sat in that area so I think the bow looked nice and was enough to imply that it was family seating only.

Those are all good ideas ladies, thank you! I like the ribbon idea especially because I can block off the exact number of chairs I want without having to tie a bunch of individual things on each chair.

I don't think its silly. I have a very small family and each one with have their name on their chair I have never liked empty chairs at a wedding. People never sit next to each other and there are lots of gaps in the seating at a wedding. Vow renewal 40 years! We are redoing the wedding the same way. Even my original wedding dress!
