Names After Marriage!

I’m taking his last name.

I took his last name and in the process of changing my name now! It's a big process and won't be completely done until at least March due to Covid restrictions at all the locations (DMV, Passport, etc).

We each took each other’s names and hyphenated.

Is it in the same order or flipflopped? Like is it Brown-Johnson & Johnson-Brown? Or Brown-Johnson for both of you?

Same. Made my maiden like a second middle or last name but officially I go by his last name.

View Quoted Comment Same order. My last name - her last name. We wanted same order so we both have the same last name as our children. We considered an alternative last name (combination of both names), but hated all of the options.

Both of us are keeping our names.

I took my wife’s last name. We knew we wanted to share a family name and I had no emotional connection to mine, so it made the most sense.

View Quoted Comment Yes, that was me. We do have the same last name, however, she and my FIL are divorced, so she could go back to her maiden name for all I care lol

I’m not changing it - I changed back to my maiden name after my divorce several years ago and it took a while to get used to that.
My work email is based on my previous name (and can’t be changed) and people still call me by the old name, I don’t want to add any more confusion!
