Myrtle Beach in October?

givemetheD, on February 21, 2017 at 8:53 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 15

FH and I are trying to decide on a place for our October honeymoon. He is adamant about staying in the US so we are considering Myrtle Beach? Have any of you been there during that time of year? How is the weather? What activities are there to do? I'm open to any info or recommendations that you all have

We own a condo in Myrtle and the weather is pretty nice in October. Broadway at the Beach is a fun place to go during the day time and has a pretty good night life too. FH loves the dueling piano bar there.

Would you say it's warm enough to swim during that time of year?

I've looked into Myrtle Beach for our honeymoon as well. I googled the average weather during October and it said High 77 Low 54. For me? That's too cold, but I'm in Texas and anything lower than 85 is cold to me. Haha

There are so many other beaches on the east coast, especially SC, that are WAY more beautiful and more suitable for a honeymoon imo. The islands down near Charleston and Savannah cannot be beat. I think it's too cold to swim in October on the middle east coast unless you're going more southern into Florida. (I live in SC) October the place might be dead, but the crowd is usually less than ideal and always too rowdy. There are a lot of "tourist" attractions and shopping if that's you're kind of thing. It's a typical vacation town.

I live in SC and Myrtle Beach is kind of a redneck/dirty/college party beach. I wouldn't recommend for a honeymoon. I'd suggest Charleston or somewhere in NC.

By the way, we've gotten hurricanes in October the past two years in a row, so good luck.

For warmth with warm waters still in October, I'd go with Hawaii or Florida. The water is a bit chilly in October in Myrtle Beach after September.

Southern FL is very nice in October! My FMIL lives in West Palm and we love to vacation down there during the fall to get some beach time in. If you guys just want warm and beachy you're going to have to make a list of top places and research pricing. Like PP said, FL is a good choice. Hawaii would be amazing if that is in your budget.

If you don't care much about laying on the beach and more so want an experience, Charleston - the outer banks - Savannah are all really nice and romantic areas. They also have a lot of history which means lots of cool stuff to do! Good luck!

The weather is pretty nice in October. I was just there for my father's birthday since that's where they live now. I would say on average between 75 and 80 during the day and slightly cooler at night. It's comfortable to sit out at the beach, but I wouldn't go into the water. Some of the more touristy locations are closed for the season but theres still plenty of things to do.

My fiance and I are honeymooning in Hilton Head, SC and I have heard nothing but good things! Our wedding is next week so only a week till Sandy beaches. (We live in Wisconsin and the 70 degree weather is a blessing compared to 20 degree)

I live so close to Myrtle Beach and I definitely do not recommend as a honeymoon destination. Try Charleston, it is gorgeous there! Myrtle is more for college kids just wanting to party for cheap. We call it dirty myrtle

Hhhhmmm maybe we'll consider Florida. Does anyone have recommendations for where or what part of Florida is nice? We've never been there either

Myrtle Beach in October is fun! I've been on a youth retreat there during that time. It is a bit too cold to swim in the ocean, but beach activities are still fair game. It's off season so it won't be crowded at all, and it is very affordable to stay there during the off season.
