Pay for a checked bag if only for your sunblock. No joke, the checked bag will cost less than buying the amount of sunblock you'll need at the resort. Even at $30 each way.

We took our snorkels and fins, and it was awesome! We were able to do some GREAT snorkeling at our resort, AND didn't have to pay for an excursion to Akumal: we just took the Collectivo and walked. Totally worth the $6! Smiley xd

Pack your own sun block, bring a floppy hat, don't drink the tap water, bring at least 3 bathing suits (I just got back from Mexico about 2 weeks ago, and wish I would have packed 5 suits...we were there for 8 days/7 nights), bring bug spray and itch relief.

    Enjoy yourself!

FYI - August is the start of hurricane season and will be very, very hot. Late OCT the weather is nice and hurricane chances are minimal. It's still considered low season so your rates shouldn't increase.

    Where are you staying?

Omg yes to the bug spray. We had no idea the bugs were so bad. We went to the Caribbean, but still, the bugs. Honestly I packed way too many cutesy dresses and shorts and tops. Should have packed more slip on sundresses that worked as cover ups for beach. Sundresses and bathing suits is pretty much all you need clothes wise. Oh and plenty of lingerie Smiley smile

I mostly wore gym shorts, tank tops, and swimming suits. I brought one or two pairs of nicer shorts and a couple sun dresses, but mostly gym shorts. And lots and lots of sunscreen (I burn rather easily, so I set an alarm for every 2-3 hours to reapply).

Are you going to an all inclusive resort? If so, one or more of the restaurants may have a dress code. I would have your FH pack one pair of pants just in case. (Our resort had several restaurants where the guys were required to wear pants and everyone dressed up at night).

Floppy hat- and the kind of sandals/flip flops you can wear on the beach- and comfortable walking shoes.

    Sun block- bug spray.

We went to an all inclusive- and there was definitely a dress code (mostly collared shirts and what not)- so pack for that.

I'm on the plane now waiting to take off. Swimsuits, shorts, t-shirts, sunblock, flip flops, sneakers, and plenty of lube and condoms.

Oh Mexico!! Passport, sunblock , floppy hat, drink water bottles only, I atleast take 3-4 bathing suits , bug spray, have some cute outfits for the evening like sun dresses skirts and top. Some resorts have requirements for men with slacks. And have fun most importantly
