I’m currently looking at the different songs to chose for my wedding and so far I only have our song for the first dance (If I tremble) and for when I walk down the aisle (Canon in D - not the most creative, I know, but for me it’s so linked to weddings I only need to hear it to tear up!).

What are your choices? Any recommendation for a cake cutting song? Also, what made you decide for the different songs?

Canon D was the song I walked down the aisle to because that's the song my mom wanted. She told me that's the song she always envisioned me walking down the aisle to so she cried when she heard that's the song I selected. Our cake cutting song was Sugar by Maroon 5. When it came to selecting songs, I tried asking my husband for help, but because there are so many songs he wasn't sure what I would like so I made a list of each song type that we needed and picked about 3-5 songs for each. Then I sent him the list and he picked from there which song he liked the best. I did have to pick new songs for the one category because he didn't like any of the songs I picked at first. I found this an easy way to get his input while still including songs I liked.

Oh, I like the way you worked together with your fiancé! I might try that.

I think Canon is a beautiful song for walking down the isle, I tear up to lol. My FH and I like Victors piano solo from Tim Burton's corpse bride, its cute and sweet and I don't tear up lol.

We chose "Love You Madly" by Cake for our cake cutting song! Its a fun song, and the band name is appropriate for the occasion!

    I'm another Canon D bride!

And we did choose a cake cutting song but I don't even remember if they played it. We choose either Love Today by Mika or You Make My Dreams Come True

Our BP walked down to Butterfly Waltz, which is probably pretty common, but it's so pretty! I walked into Hogwarts' Hymn, from Goblet of Fire, because I am *that* Harry Potter nerd. (I was wearing a Ravenclaw tiara comb to hold in my veil.)

We did not have a cake cutting song... honestly, we did not hear what was going on then. I'm sure our DJ had something lovely.

We recessed down the aisle to a string instrumental version of "Take me Out to the Ballgame" - which wasn't immediately recognized, and then got a fabulous laugh from our friends.

I chose my music based on what emotions I want to feel the most: love, happiness, and joy!

Trust me, it’s an absolute hodgepodge. I have some love songs from the 40s-60s, “Best Friend” by Queen, Disney love songs, and some less commonly known stuff (“Past Lives” by
Borns, “Got Love” by Tove Lo). I will be walking to an instrumental version of “At
Last I See the Light” from Tangled since the lyrics describe how I feel about
    him coming into my life.

Lots of string quartet covers of popular songs too if you want something elegant and
    unexpected, but recognizable.

If you’re having guests of different ages, I’d suggest finding songs from different decades to
get everyone in a dancing mood.

We’re also playing “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry. Lol.

It’s the soundtrack to the happiest day of your life, so make it whatever want!

Hi Fenja My name is Oderlyn from Elegant Musicians, LLC. I will attach some screenshots of documents we normally sent to our clients with some suggestions for the main parts of the ceremony. I don’t know how to send files here but if you look for the titles of the songs on YouTube that should work too. I can email it to you if you want, our email is ****************@*****.***. I need to make an updated list because there are many current songs that could work. However, there are some that are timeless I suppose, like the Canon in D that you like; it is a beautiful song. Even if you choose more contemporary songs, notice the mood or vibe of the suggestions in these documents for every section of the ceremony. Good luck !!
