Movies and tv shows about weddings

Katie, on July 26, 2021 at 10:10 AM Posted in Community Conversations 3 40
Do you find yourself watching more TV shows and or movies about weddings or pre wedding events now that it's your turn to get married?

I got engaged back in 2019 and immediately started planning. I found myself watching say yes to the dress and four wedding on TLC in the beginning of planning. Now that I'm 18 days away from my wedding I have been watching a couple of movies that have to do with weddings. I finally watched rough night and bride wars. I'm so excited for this milestone in my life.

Yes! Currently on a wedding movie binge (especially 90’s wedding movies). Such a fun way to get excited about your big day!

Planning on watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding with my FH on our next movie night. 😁

I already watched quite a few of them to start with. Now I am looking at them differently and saying "how unrealistic" or "yikes, let's avoid that" depending on the situation.

Yes definitely. And the 90s wedding movies are great because you get to see the idea of decorations and wedding dresses back then. I have been watching at least one wedding movie a day.

Yes this is another thing. I was watching four wedding and it either gave me ideas for my wedding or made me realize that an idea I had wouldn't be a good one.

Yes, I binge watch say yes to the dress! I don’t like four weddings, I feel like some of the lady’s are mean and too critical of the weddings so I don’t watch it much now. Also 90 day fiancé, more so for the drama less for the wedding/marriage lol

Omg yes, I feel like they are so mean. I watched it more for the ideas to help figure out what I want to do. But I can't stand seeing the behavior of some of the women.

YES!! I've been on a wedding movie binge since getting engaged in January lol. My favorites are:

    1. My Best Friend's Wedding

    2. Father of the Bride

    3. Bridesmaids

I've also been enjoying Marriage or Mortgage on Netflix!

I love the shows Four Weddings (I'm a glutton for drama), My Fair Wedding by David Tutera, and Say Yes to the Dress (especially Atlanta, Bridesmaids, original, and Big Day). I also watch Marriage or Morgage and enjoyed it more than I thought.

Also I love any excuse to watch a good wedding movie.

Absolutely not. It gives a false sense of what is expected and what should be done. Especially the reality tv. Things that one or two people do on tv balloons into a trend via Pinterest. Even though it may be very inconvenient or impolite, brides who are planning get the false idea that “oh this is brilliant and everyone else is doing it so my guests will think I’m a horrible host if we don’t do this”.

It only gives a false sense if you actually believe what you see on TV. It's like any TV show or movie it's obviously made for entertainment not as step by step direction for the real world. It's like believing that there really are talking dogs just because you seen a talking dog on a movie.
