Modern or Traditional: First Look?

Jayla, on October 16, 2018 at 11:05 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 115

On your wedding day, are you staying true to traditions and letting your walk down the aisle be the first time you and your significant other see each other? Or are you taking the modern approach for a personal pre-ceremony moment (and an easier photography timeline) and doing a first look before the ceremony?

Modern. A winter wedding means less sunlight to work with. We were super against a first look until we saw how tight our timeline would be without it so we switched gears and gave in.

Traditional is so sweet!! I always love the look on a couples face when they see each for the first time at the ceremony!

In Jewish weddings you have to sign the Ketubah (marriage license) before the wedding ceremony so it's actually traditional for the bride and groom to see each other before the wedding.

My FH and I will NOT be doing a first look.

I’m super excited to be doing a first look with my dad.

Modern. We did a first look and it didn’t make it any less special. We both bawled when I walked down the aisle!

    Traditional.

My husband had an idea of what I wanted to look like, but didn't see me all in my glory until I walked down the isle.

Modern. We love the idea of the first look as it takes so much pressure off the couple, specially if you are getting married outdoors and need the sun for great pictures.

Traditional! I have a surprise in store for my sweetheart and I don't want it revealed 'til my stroll down the aisle.

Modern. We wanted more time with guests and our first look photos were our favorites! In a 90-min photo session around the resort we were relaxed & it was heavenly to connect before the ceremony & flurry of party activity. 👍

Traditional!! We absolutely do not want to see each other. We will be in the same hotel but different rooms the night before. My getting ready starts the day before when my nails get done and the first process of my hair gets done so he will not see me after that begins

Modern. Our first look was hands down one of my favorite parts of the day. Having that time for just us was amazing. It was also awesome because it gave us more time to spend with our friends and families.

Modern, we did a first look and I loved it! It made me less of an emotional mess during the ceremony and we were able to do pictures before the ceremony, which gave us more time with our guests after the ceremony

Modern. I really, really did not want a first look originally. But there are HUGE benefits in terms of time saved for photography! There are ways to do a first look that still change it up from the ceremony, so my first look with him will be without my veil, and then I'll put it back on for the ceremony.

We were going to do modern with our original date of 12/08/18 but we postponed the wedding to 05/04/19 we want to go the traditional way. We will take the majority of pictures we can with bridal party parents etc.. Before the wedding then everything together after I think it helped me get back into the excitement changing it
