Modern or Traditional: Engagement Announcement?

Sam, on October 16, 2018 at 11:05 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 86

How did you announce your engagement?

Did you announce your engagement to the world in a modern way such as posting an extravagant Instagram photo? Or, did you go super traditional and have an announcement printed in the local newspaper? Was your engagement announcement modern or traditional?

    We announced it via Facebook.

We were scheduled to have engagement photos done, but our photographer cancelled on us last minute (day of) because of the weather. We never ended up rescheduling, and I kind of regret it seeing so many beautiful ones on here, but we did seize the day and went out regardless and took our own photos (nowhere near the same quality) with my cell phone.

Well, it's nice that you still went out despite the cancellation and got some photos to share with your friends and family! Smiley smile

Thank you Smiley smile It's certainly something we'll always remember, because it was FREEZING COLD RAIN! Hahaha

We ended up loving our photographer so much that we agreed that we wanted to hire him to take "family" portraits next year with our dog!

Put in newspaper where I grew up, and in alumni news for my hometown regional school system. Husband from Brooklyn, submitted only to parent's parish newspaper bulletin. Never put engagement or marriage on our social media .

I think what keeps our small rural cluster if towns from going bankrupt is that people who leave the area subscribe, so they mail out 10 times as many papers as they sell or deliver. Big newspapers act like we only come alive every 4 years for NH primaries. Small town people, small town ways.

Modern. But we did let those closest to us know before we posted so no ones feelings were hurt to find out on social media.

I think that is a great idea! It's always nice to let your loved ones know before posting on social media so that they can hear the exciting news from you directly!
