Millhouse Group - Vacation Scam???

Michelle, on May 16, 2019 at 9:22 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 27

Hello fellow wedding planners! I went to a bridal show in March and was just texted by Anne at Millhouse Group that I won a 4 day 3 night vacation in my choice of 8 resorts in the Bahamas, Dominican Republic or Mexico along with a kitchen knife. We have to pay for airfare and taxes. They pay for the room, meals, drinks and any outdoor activities we want to do.

In return they are asking that we go to a cooking show. Has anyone done this? It sounds awfully scammy to me!

Yes my friend did it several years ago and you had to buy really expensive cook ware. I'm not sure exact cost but I want to say at least 1,000. I would say no and run.

I've done it with a different company and it was legit.

    Hi Michelle!

    You're right to be cautious!

I would definitely do detailed research and fact-finding mission on this company before attending or booking anything Smiley smile

It's not so much a scam, as it is a marketing tool, to get you to buy expensive cookware. There are similar things out there for timeshares, as FH and I got sucked into one of those. We did get some little stuff for attending the presentation. But sitting through the hard sell, knowing we weren't going to buy anything, was not easy.

I just received the same text message from Anne - so Do you not get the trip unless you buy 1,000 worth of kitchen tools?

We went to the cooking show and got the free knife and the free vacation. The guy had a long drive so didn't even do the show just gave us the free stuff. The knife is amazing we use it all the time. Now I'm just wondering if the actual vacation voucher is a scam? Has anyone used theirs?

We won the exact same thing! We went to the cooking show and did NOT have to buy anything we just had to sit through the 90 minute presentation and we got the knife and voucher. I have not done anything with the voucher yet but I do remember being told we had to pay airfare and taxes.

They require you to go as a couple for the 90 min presentation. If you cannot go together, or with a family representative they cannot move forward with the offer. I asked multiple times if I could go myself due to scheduling issues and no local family and they said that they would keep our names on hold and touch base at a later time.
You are responsible for airfare and taxes. I didn’t like that the website did not specify the name of the resort to review location and reviews from previous guests

The names of resorts and hotels would be in the brochures and vouchers they give you at the presentation.

Hey did you find out if the trip was a scam or not? I’m supposed to go tonight, but don’t want to waste my time if it’s a scam.
