Any Michigan brides having an issue with getting money back from wedding venue? Our wedding was supposed to be for 200 people June 5 but we decided to cancel the large wedding and have something smaller outside. Unfortunately our original venue does not have an outdoor space. We are under the impression that indoor weddings are supposed to be limited to 25 people as of now. Our venue is saying they’re allowed 275... no idea where they’re coming up with this amount. They’re holding our deposit but said “if unable to host it, we will return the deposit”.. just wondering if anyone else is having this issue or has some insight. Thanks in advance!

Hi Katie! Are they a venue that can go by restaurant capacity restrictions instead? (So 50% of capacity or 100 persons) I'd check with them on how they're getting to that 275 number!

I'd also clarify the exact terms of returning the deposit! Will it only be returned if they are completely unable to host any event? Or is there a certain guest count you're both looking at to make that determination? Either way - I'd want to make sure you're on the same page about next steps!

Hey there! Our venue is a golf club and they’re operating at the restaurant capacity for indoor dining. We’re allowed up to 150 guests. There won’t be that many people there but we’re required for our contact to have a minimum of 100 which is around what we have. Don’t know 150 people lol but I’d check and ask, because I bet your place is doing what mine is.
