Miami vs Fort Lauderdale honeymoon

Ashley, on February 21, 2016 at 11:13 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 8

FH and I are going on a cruise for our honeymoon in October! We're super excited for it! We are flying into Fort Lauderdale the night before our cruise leaves and then spending an extra 3 days in Florida. Our cruise port is in Miami but it's really just deciding if we want to stay in Miami after the cruise and take a cab back to FLL when we need to go to the airport. Or go straight to Fort Lauderdale and stay there after the cruise. If you had to chose between Miami or Fort Lauderdale which would you pick? We're not into clubbing or dancing. We just want to hang out on the beach, relax, and maybe see some cool stuff. Think museums, cool/funky bars, neat hiking trails...

ETA: A quick Expedia search says hotels are roughly the same price so that's not an issue either Smiley smile

Fort Lauderdale. Both beaches will be a little crowded, but Miami is obnoxiously crowded. I was actually just talking to someone yesterday who moved out of the area because it was getting really bad crime/drug wise too.

Well I don't think either place is ideal for hiking. However, since you mentioned museums I'd go Miami. If you like art, I suggest visiting Wynwood. Both beaches are beautiful but Ft.Lauderdale will be less crowded. If you do go with Miami stay away from the side near Little Havana.

Fort Lauderdale! I am also from Florida and Miami is one of my least favorite places on the planet.

I'm on vaca in Fort Lauderdale (well, Pompano Beach) right now! Miami is lots of partying, and while FLL still has some partying, it's much more relaxing.

I hate Miami. Crowded and the beaches are filled with drunk and obnoxious people.

I would stay in Fort Lauderdale, Las Olas Blvd ends at the Beach and there is plenty of nice beach front hotels there. Also on the 17th street causeway there is the Harbor Marriott Beach Resort, is pricey but great for honeymooners. I can assist with hotel rates, if you like, can help you find a hotel that meets your needs and budget

    Thanks

I'm from Ft Lauderdale and honestly I never know why people choose to travel there. :/ I dont club and everything in Downton was always just to expensive and unnecessary. The neatest thing I can recommend is the Museum of Discovery and Science.

FT LAUDERDAAAALE!!! ugh it's so relaxing there! There's a Hilton on A1A (the 505 n ft Lauderdale beach blvd one NOT the marina one) and it's close to everything but that part of the beach is VERY relaxing. There's a great restaurant attached to it called S3 which has a great brunch and a restaurant down the street called Casablanca, get a table on the patio at sunset. Ahhh. And there are trollys that you can hop on and off the A1A to get you to places like Las Olas Blvd.
