Ashley, on February 7, 2020 at 11:44 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 4

We are cruising through Royal Caribbean in July for our honeymoon. We will be visiting Rome, Nice, Barcelona, Valencia and Cartagena. Has anyone visited these places? If so, what are you must do's, eats, etc? We are so excited!

I've been to Rome and it is stunning. European architecture just makes sight seeing so much more aesthetically pleasing. So make sure to take in all the sights and get plenty of gelato aha

I lived in Nice for a couple weeks when I studied abroad in college!
From where I'm assuming the cruise ships dock youre probably going to want to hop over to the "Vieille Ville" area. You could take a bus or it's probably ~20-30 minute walk depending on where exactly you're going. This is the old town area which is cool to just walk around and explore if you like those kinds of places. Also there is a gelato and ice cream place called Fennochio's. Which is delicious. They have A TON of flavors. Some you'd never even think of for ice cream.
If you're going during the summer definitely visit the beaches at Nice, even if it's just a short walk down to see him and stick your toes in the water. They're rock beaches, which I LOVED, so it's something unique. And there are lots of free to visit areas peppered in between the beach clubs. I'm not a huge beach person and I loved hanging at the Nice beaches.
Along the coast is the Promenade Des Anglais. Which is a long boulevard that runs the length of the coast and is a very nice walk. And there's stores and restaurants along that road too. If you like shopping if you go past the old town and there's a shopping district along a big street called Avenue Jean Medecin. There's also like a tram that goes along a track down that road. You could also go up a bit farther north from the coast and hop on a bus to the area of Cimiez. There's two art museums there, a monastery, and some Roman ruins which are pretty neat.
There are definitely other sights, including a couple pretty garden areas too but I've rambled enough for one post haha

Yes have visited all. Go to rick Steve’s website and pull up info and see forum. Lots of good info. Another thing- go on cruise critic and find other people ( in rollcall) on your cruise. I do not like going on ship excursions ( 50 people and the slowest wins). I connected with super fun people and we arranged our own trips and tours - less people and 200% more fun!

We just went to Rome and Barcelona this past March. I highly recommend the Vatican and eating lunch in the Monti or Trastevere neighborhood. We loved looking at the colosseum but going inside wasn’t as impressive. I recommend spending time at the Vatican if you have to choose.

Barcelona was amazing too! We loved the Parc De Guell and the Sagrada Familla. However, I found the the Parc more impressive. I would visit both if you could!! Also, make reservations for all these places in advance, as you don’t want to waist your whole time in line. We also found the best bar (rated top 10 in the world).. not sure if it’ll be open when you go, but I highly recommend if it is. The bar is Paradiso.
