Maldives Honeymoon on a Budget.

Jessica, on April 14, 2020 at 4:40 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

Hello everyone!

Sooo...

My Fiancé lost his job due to everything happening with Covid- 19 and my hours were cut in half. Not only has wedding planning taken a turn, but now we are seriously stressin' about what we thought our dream honeymoon would be. We are both huge beach people and love to be in the water. We want a super relaxing and intimate experience with some adventures of course. This is why we thought the Maldives would be a perfect place for us. We know this destination tends to be on the pricer side, but we were hoping you all had some advice for us on the planning process. Any travel agencies you recommend? If you have gone where did you stay and what did you do? Are all inclusive packages really worth it? What budgeting strategies worked for you? I have read through some of the posts but figured making my own to keep it straight would help me out more.

Thank you so much in advance for your reply!

Sincerely,

Armand & Jess Smiley heart

If you can no longer afford the Maldives you can use Groupon and get an all inclusive package to an island in the Caribbean.

We were supposed to be in the Maldives right now but our honeymoon has been cancelled due to COVID Smiley sad We did tons of research and went all inclusive. We planned on drinking and based on the prices it seemed like it would be worth it. Tons of resorts offer just room and meal packages so you could opt for that if you don’t plan on drinking really. The biggest thing will be the type of room you plan on getting. You can stay at a decent resort with a standard room for a relatively decent price. Not cheap by any means, but not crazy. When you upgrade to the over water rooms is where you need to really set your expectations to be spending $6k+ for the week. I’d also look into your transportation options from the airport. The resorts that are further out require sea planes which can add a few hundred dollars in transportation costs. I didn’t expect that when we started our research! Its cheaper to visit from May-November because it’s the rainy season and the weather is more unpredictable. Overall I wouldn’t say it’s the best place if you’re on a super strict budget but it’s somewhere we hope to visit eventually. Our wedding was in September and most people gave us cash gifts so that’s how we were planning on paying for most of it!

It truly depends on how spectacular you want it!

We found great prices on Great Value Vacations

We ultimately decided to plan our own trip because of the layover flight times. Our wedding is October, we are planning for November. November is cheap because the weather is a hit or miss.

You also can get the package and upgrade what parts of the packages you want.

I'm really sorry, but I would not recommend doing your honeymoon in Maldives if you are on a budget, especially if you're traveling from the US. You will spend half of your budget alone on flying there. Maldives is also one of the most expensive honeymoon locations in the world unfortunately Smiley sad

If the beach is what you want, then I would recommend looking into the Caribbean. Belize in particular is quite affordable and has beautiful beaches

I've suggested it on forums before but Curacao has so many beautiful and AFFORDABLE villas! So many beaches, the most beautiful water, so much sightseeing, driving to do all on one small island. The culture/scenery from one side of the island to the other is also amazingly different. Went for my moms 50th and it was my favorite place I've ever been, and I've traveled a bit! None of us wanted to leave!! And the most amazing perfect Caribbean weather Smiley heart

We want to do Maldives for our honeymoon too but due to covid and rescheduling and replanning our wedding it might not happen. But me and my husband came across the sandles resort in Jamaica and they have over the water villas which is what we want. We want the romantic far away from everyone feel. So we are considering this as our back up plan. You should check it out. I read the reviews and so far I am liking what I see! Hope this helps! Wishing you guys the best of luckMaldives Honeymoon on a Budget. 1

My fiancé and I just booked our honeymoon to the maldives for May 2021 a couple months ago. The one resort ayada maldives was having a 40% discount (I think due to covid). It was just pretty expensive still but I think its because we went with the all inclusive over the water bungalows. The airfare is pretty pricey as well, but we decided it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Good luck, I hope you find a place you love!
