Makeup Artist Hell!!!

Kristine, on June 25, 2019 at 12:49 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 5

When I started planning my wedding, I didn't think finding and booking a girl to do my make up was going to be the most stressful thing, but it is! I had one MUA that I had a trial with back in March, loved, and then never heard anything from her until 3 weeks ago. (I sent her about a dozen emails). Then I was working with another girl, all ready to sign a contract and put down a deposit when she said "something came up" and once again I was back to square one.

I can't seem to get anyone to return a phone call or email and my wedding is coming up...FAST. I'm worried that everyone is going to get booked up, and I'm going to end up having to do my own makeup. Which I'm capable of, it's just not the look I want for that day. Any advice on how to get someone to respond to something?????

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this Smiley sad Do you have a hair stylist? Maybe ask them (or your other vendors) if they have someone to recommend? I feel like personal recommendations is usually the best way to find someone reliable. We found our photographers through our venue, and I found my hair stylist through my wax lady, lol.

Does the place you’re having your hair done through do makeup? Most salons do offer an option for makeup. I’ve also known people who get it done with at a makeup counter/store (MAC, Sephora) and you can usually make appointments ahead of time.

Date twins!! I'd check IG. There are tons of freelance MUAs to choose from. Try searching #(your city)MUA

I feel like those vendors are the most flaky. No offence to anyone.

I have found some amazing vendors but it was after weeding out all the flaky ones.

I thought I could count on my neighbor to do my makeup, she tells me she is moving to Idaho at an undetermined time and that her makeup stash isn't up to par. I had a family friend that does makeup and I was hesitant, turns out she is pregnant and due right around my wedding. I found another one through my sister and she has been so awesome and accommodating and will come to me for makeup the day of my wedding.

I had a family member who was going to do my hair, she seemed really excited. Then she gave me an outrageous quote for me and my girls so when I tried to change it she said it would actually be an "inconvenience" to do my hair because she also has to get ready for the wedding. I find out later that at the salon she works for she doesn't really have clients she mainly just sweeps up, dodged a bullet there. My new hair stylist, is so great and professional, I just found out that she moved salons but I contacted her to make sure nothing changed and she said my appointment and trial are still booked with her and the price is the same. Thank goodness.
