Makeup and hair for grooms

As far as makeup, unless you have blemishes to cover, it’s not necessary unless you want to wear it. A significant number of men don’t wear any makeup at all at the wedding. For hair, browse Pinterest and Instagram to see what catches your eye. Instagram is great for finding local vendors of all types including hair/makeup.

In terms of make up, I would find an airbrush artist in your area and do a trial with them. Airbrush makeup would probably be best for you, since you are not used to the feeling of make up on your skin. Airbrush make up is super light-weight and most people can’t even tell they are wearing it. And not only does it photograph well, it tends to look better in person (ie, not “cakey”), and lasts all day/night and through all weather conditions. I would definitely schedule a trial with them first though, just to make sure you like it, and actually want it for your wedding day. If you find you don’t like wearing make up, you could always have your photographer touch up dark eyes or imperfections of the skin when they are editing your photos.

and flawless for 20+ hours. And I always feel that I just look “healthy” in airbrush make up. Whereas traditional make up tends to give my skin a fake unnatural look (plus it can also cause the dreaded “jaundice skin” and flash back). If you have a trial done, let us know how it goes!
Oh, and make sure you get instructions from the make up artist in terms of shaving, moisturizing, etc. the morning of your trial!

Every makeup artist I reached out to had services for the groom that could be added to the package, so most wedding HMUA should be used to this and have plenty of experience putting something together for men!

If I were you I'd go to a make-up counter at your mall and ask for assistance. They are usually helpful with not only helping you find products but showing you how to apply them yourselves. This would be especially helpful for darker skin tones to ensure the right shade.

I would recommend using the diversity filter on the WW searches and contact artists directly. Or you can hit department stores/ Sephora, find your shades, purchase, then have your own items ready for a professional make-up artists on wedding day. If you have friends who wear make-up, they can also point you in the right direction for quality products. Many men get beauty done for their big day. Good luck!
