Make-up

My wedding is in September and completely outdoor, what are some tips on make up or ideas to not let it run and stay nice all day with all that goes on.

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Michaela!

Will you be doing your makeup yourself or will you hire a makeup artist? If you’re hiring a professional makeup artist, he/she will be experienced in applying makeup that will last all day, even in an outdoor Summer wedding. Speak to him/her about your concerns and see what the plan is to avoid the makeup running.

My two best tips for long-lasting makeup that doesn’t run or disappear is use primer and a setting spray! Primer creates a grippy base for your foundation and locks everything on your face. In particular, you would need to apply it to your eyelids, t-zone and anywhere else you’re prone to sweat. Don’t feel you have to spend an arm and a leg on high-end brands as more cost-effective brands can be just as good. My personal favorite is Smashbox’s PhotoFinish primer. You can also get one more suited to any skin concerns you have e.g. oily, dry, etc. When all your makeup is applied you can spritz your face with a setting spray which seals everything in place. One I hear people raving about, especially for summer makeup, is Urban Decay’s All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray.

I’m sure if you visit a store such as Sephora or Ulta Beauty, a member of staff would be happy to help select some products suited to your skin and give you some testers to try out!
