Make a picnic shelter look classy?

Cassie, on January 8, 2015 at 5:17 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

Hey y'all!

Soooo due to the budget, we are doing a more informal reception in a picnic shelter (it was either that or pay wayyyyy too much for a tent). Does anyone have any suggestions for making it look classy? Doesn't need to look like a 5 star resort, just want it to be cute. Going for a shabby chic/rustic theme. Thanks!!!

Clear lights and i kid you not, yards and yards of muslin from a fabric store. JoAnn's is having a 50% coupon right now. (we're doing a pavilion for the BBQ after the DW)

Ooo, I like all of these ideas! How do you think I could mix draping with patio lights (I was already planning to string those across the shelter)? Thanks!

You could drape the fabric , string of lights , fabric, string of lights . For another example when you look at the photo I posted imagine a string of lights between the draped fabric. I hope you get what I'm trying to say .

I would hang white Christmas lights (I bet you can get some GREAT deals on clearance right now!)

Rent or buy fabric to drape in your colors

    Hang paper lanterns

@Cassie, I found your post in a search as I'm also planning of having a pavilion reception. I hope you will post your BAM so I can see what you've decided to do with your decor. Thanks and happy soon to be wedding!

I love this idea. We are having our wedding in September and we are using a picnic shelter at a park. This picture really helps me with some ideas.
