Maiden Name To Middle

Anyone in Oklahoma make their maiden name their middle name? I went to get my marriage license and when I told them this is what I wanted to do, they told me that they couldn’t do that? The girl told me that she could hyphenate our last names, but I couldn’t add my maiden name as my middle name. I don’t currently have a middle name. I signed my marriage license with my future last name. Does this mean that even if I go to the SS, I won’t be able to make my maiden name my middle name? Or did the girl tell me wrong?

Hey there Gabriela!
As far as I know, the first stop in changing your name would be the Social Security Administration (SSA) office. I would speak with them as see about adding your maiden name as your middle name. I believe they would have the authority on this or be able to point you in the right direction
