Lost my engagement ring... completely beside myself

EricaL, on January 21, 2018 at 1:13 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 41
Hello Ladies,
4 days ago I took my beautiful to ring off to cut meat, I put in on the counter like I’ve done 100 times before and... well... it’s gone. I’ve been searching nonstop ever since. High and low. I took my dog to the vet for X-rays to see if he swallowed it... nothing. I prayed to St. Anthony... nothing (so far). I searched other forums to see where other people had found theirs to give me new ideas on where to search... nothing. I’m starting to think I accidentally threw it in the garbage which is long gone by now just because it’s no where to be found. I’m literally beside myself and We didn’t have insurance to cover the whole ring (only the diamond apparently). I thought it was but it’s not covered, talk about a dagger to the heart. The thing was expensive and we just bought a house so we cannot afford another one. I just miss it. I know it is just an object, and just a symbol of our love for eachother but damn does this suck. Has anyone else ever lost their ring and swore it was gone forever and then they found it? I’m grasping for any sort of hope here.

Oh lady, so sorry Smiley sad Did you check your disposal to see if it accidentally got knocked down into the sink? I know its been awhile but on the off chance it got stuck and hasn't gone all the way down... You probably already checked but I couldn't help but ask. I sure hope it shows up!

Yes... I checked there too Smiley sad I just can’t sleep because it’s making me sick. I’m hoping that one day down the road it turns up, but I can’t stop thinking it ended up in the trash Smiley sad

So so sorry to hear about your ring! Is it possible it got put into a pile of mail? Sometimes our counter becomes a catch-all and it’s essy for things to get swept aside. Or maybe it fell onto the other side of the counter and brushed into a small corner?? Hope you find it! (I’ll pray to st. Anthony too for you!)

Ugh so frustrating! This will sound silly but have you checked under your cabinets, in the drawers next to it? I once had a ring that I accidentally knocked into the silverware drawer! Good luck!!

I'm soooo sorry this happened to you. I hope that it will randomly show up one day soon when you are not even looking for it, as things tend to sometimes do. Try to think positive, I know how hard that is to do right now, but you are still getting married and you will still get to be his Mrs. even without your engagement ring. Hopefully it turns up soon!!

    Sorry to hear this!
I found my ring (no engagement) in the garbage. That’s the last place I thought I’d find it but there it was.
I understand is an object but it’s something that symbolizes love, commitment to out relationship so it’s understandable.
hopefully you get to find it.

My uncle found his ring in a wall years after losing it.

Did you check any air vents?

Any chance there's a gap between the kick plate and the lower cabinets? I know someone whose ring bounced in there. Her ring was found 25 years later when the kitchen was redone

I have a locket with a one decade rosary in it that was blessed by Pope John Paul II that disappeared for years. I looked everywhere! Whenever I thought about it I would pray to St Anthony. After about 4 years it showed up in a box of junk. You know that ubiquitous box of things you never fully unpacked in the back of a closet? Yeah. There.

I had this tiny amethyst ring that was my grandmother's, she died before I was born, but I was the only February baby, other than my dad. It only fit my pinky, but sometimes not even that because it's FL and humid, so I took it off a lot. For years I thought I had lost it for good and felt guilty. Then I got a new car and had to clean out the old one. It was there in the console with all my change and other junk the whole time. Since you did have insurance on the center stone could you collect that and maybe get something smaller or maybe something from an estate sale? Or was it just the if it falls out/not if you lose it insurance? I'm so sorry it's missing and I hope you find it soon.

Maybe it fell in between the oven and the cabinets or countertops. Or underneath the fridge or oven.

Thank you for the reminder to check on my homeowner’s Insurance and make sure my ring is covered in the event of a loss. I really hope you find your ring! I’m sure it feels awful not having it.

My dad wore his on a snowmobiling trip and noticed later that evening it was gone. He was heartbroken. My parents were married for years and rings hold so much sentimental value. They went up the mountain with metal detectors and everything and could not find it in the snow. The ring was gone for MONTHS! Then one day my little brother was digging in the couch for spare change and he found the ring! My dad cried he was so happy.

I guess my advice here is look in your couch, and a happy ending may be looming!

I would check your home owners . . The diamind is insured and that's the most expensive part .. settings aren't super bad I do hope you find it though.. I always put my ring in my jewelry box btw it's not that much of a hassle when things can go wrong

I would also check in the drawers, and behind/under all of your appliances. Be really thorough and take everything out of the drawers item by item. I’m so sorry this happened, I really hope you find it!!

Do you have a window above your counter/kitchen sink? I always put my ring on the window sill when I start cooking or washing dishes. Have you checked there?
I'm sorry this happened to you. Hopefully it will turn up soon.
