Losing weight between dress fittings

Taylor, on February 28, 2022 at 12:17 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 3 9
So my dress should be in any day now. The boutique told me to have my first fitting around may and my wedding is in October. I imagine I’ll lose more weight after may. Will this be a problem? It won’t be drastic. Maybe 10-15 pounds

Usually once you start your alterations you're supposed to stop losing weight. Depending on what they start with there's a chance that they'll have to alter the dress again which would throw their schedule off. Your best bet would be to ask them and see what they recommend.

Most alterations appointments are scheduled 1-3 months before your wedding day. If you are planning on losing weight, I’d recommend asking if you can wait to do alterations until later this summer (if they have to hold/store your dress in store you may have to pay a fee). If they can’t, then I would look into a private seamstress. My first appointment was 8 weeks out, and I’ll go to my next appointment about 4 weeks out.

My alterations appointment is 5 weeks before my wedding, but my seamstress has a 2 week turnaround time. I'd like to continue losing weight all the way up to the wedding, but I'll probably have to stop once I get it altered.

See the boutique recomends all of their brides over to these two seamstresses and said in an email to me today that they recommend me call now to make sure I can be booked in so I don’t even know if I can get booked in that close to my wedding

I would call both and see who can get you in at the latest date. I'm using a private seamstress who works out of her home (she altered both of my sisters' wedding dresses as well as my sister's best friend's wedding dress).

My appointments need to start in June according to my seamstress. Not only does she have a ton of work since she's the best in the area, but with the amount of work needed to be done to my dress to add boning and support on top of taking it in and hemming she needs the time. So that all definitely depends on your seamstress.

It depends on your dress, but I lost 15 pounds after ordering my dress and it still fit.

I went for my first fitting Saturday - and it needs to be taken in everywhere - they pushed my next fitting back to first weekend of April to see if I lost the additional 10 pounds and need it altered more.

The boutique told me taking it in a bit will be easy - it is the lettings out that is hard. But I have a dress with very simple and clean lines.

Definitely communicate you plan to lose a bit more to your seamstress for their recommendation

Be careful with that dieting too much because you lose too much that's a whole reconstructing a new dress. And maybe more charge see where you are on your first fitting ok.
