Honestly the best thing to do is stay away from a lot of carbs and be consistent with working out. Cardio is a big one. I’ve started this ‘One Month Glow Up Challenge’ and it’s been helping. When I went to try on a dress, they couldn’t even zip it all the way up 😩 I also do 5ml of apple cider vinegar. Some lose one inch from their stomach in a matter of months.

For me at least, eating healthfully didn't mean losing weight. I was snacking on nuts and eating colorful salads dressed with olive oil, both of which are calorie dense. I wasn't gaining, but I wasn't losing either. Focus on healthy foods that are not calorie dense, especially proteins. Also don't go under 1200 calories a day. I'm not a nutritionist, this is just what I've learned from experience and reading.

Use a TDEE calculator to calculate the amount of calories you need to eat to lose weight!

I use this one https://tdeecalculator.net/ and select the information for "cutting" to get my calories for weight loss!

Personally, I really like the Fitbit app for tracking health goals. It measures calorie intake, water intake, sleep, exercise, etc., and I think it makes it easier to break your big goal into a day-by-day goal of eating X amount of calories and drinking X amount of water.

If you aren't sure where to begin with exercise, I'd recommend talking with your doctor and/ or a personal trainer. They'd be able to assess where you're at, what kind of program would help, etc.

What helps me out is only having meals, no snacks in between as those are usually what keep me at my current weight or lead to gain. I’ll also fast every few days but nothing drastic, just 4-6 hours of no food. The main booster though is building muscle. Lift what you can, squats, push-ups all help because it uses up a lot of metabolic energy for your body to build that muscle and strengthen it. So you’ll be burning more calories than normal long after the work-out is done.

Intermittent fasting! I lost about 6 pounds from fasting over 2-3 weeks. I did 16 hours of fasting with an 8 hour window to eat, so no meals after 9pm and not allowed to eat anything, only drink water, until 1pm the next day. There are different fasting periods, so whatever might work for you! Combine with exercise for better results!

I downloaded (and paid) for the noom app, I was 245 in August and weighed in at 195 today. It really helped with my thought process regarding food. I don't exercise, I do axe throwing maybe 30 minutes every 2 weeks. I did intermittent fasting as well which really helped. I would wake up at 5 am and not have my first meal until after work at 4pm. It worked for me since I'm always hungry at night. And I am starting to exercise now to help lose a bit more.

I am on weight watchers. 256 to 202 and started last fall. Biggest thing is you need to track what you are eating and not necessarily meal prep (It helps!) but have a meal plan. Exercise is always good, but it all starts with what you're eating. If you are a casual drinker, save those for the every now and then night out, drink water, don't feel like you are punishing yourself, and pay attention to portion sizes. You will be amazed at how easy it is to give yourself a "single" serving, but it ends up being 2+

Find a form of exercise that brings you real joy.

About a year ago I started taking trapeze classes with a local circus arts studio. I didn't do it with weight loss in mind. I just wanted to be fitter and to build up my strength. My physique is much leaner now, I'm stronger, I have more energy, and I really love the physical and mental challenge those classes give me. I think the reason I never stuck with the gym or running long-term is because those things bored me. They felt like a duty. You need a form of exercise where the discipline is worth it instead of being another chore on the list.

50 lbs in six months is a tall order. Focus on a more attainable goal. A high protein diet, weight training (with some cardio) and calorie counting will help you establish more healthy habits that you can extend well past your wedding.

Also, Noom seems like a rip off. The free version of MyFitnessPal should be sufficient for calorie counting and will also help you track what proportion of your diet is protein.

I cut out my usual suspects (chips, sugar, fast food, etc.) and began a healthier diet (Lots of fruit/veggies/less dairy) at the beginning of the year along with light to moderate exercising a couple days a week. I lost weight but then I plateaued and began gaining again. I'm now trying intermittent fasting as a way of just consuming less calories in a day and it seems to be going well. I have a Nintendo Switch console and there is a game called Ring Fit. It's basically a resistance ring that you connect a controller to and the other controller is strapped to your leg. You have to physically do these exercises to earn points and progress in the game. It has made working out fun and something I look forward to each day. I feel like the trick to exercising in addition to dieting is finding a routine that you actually find enjoyment doing so you look forward to it each day.

First and foremost, I would say get a dietitian and coach to make sure whatever amount of weight you lose is done in a healthy manner. The goal should be to maintain a healthy lifestyle even after the wedding. It is very possible to lose a significant amount of weight and look like you lost 50 lbs, but the scale will say otherwise. Remember: Scales are tools. If it can be measured, it can be managed, but it is not a measure of your worth as a person. It will be important to take plenty of pictures.

You will have to add some form of resistance training to your regimen, and have to eat more calories (but in healthy and nutritious foods).

-Some vegetables are better eaten raw, and others are better when they are cooked, boiled, or steamed because our bodies can absorb their nutrients more easily.

-Repair your relationship with fats in foods. Fats send signals to the brain to let your body know that it is "full". But be sure you are getting the right kinds of fats in their natural form (cuts of meat, certain oils, etc) and not excessive.

Weight training for beginners is no joke. Rest and stretching are equally important to avoid injury and let your body recover.

Because your wedding is after the holiday season, you'll need to go in with the right mentality, and your team. Furthermore, a dietitian has to be board certified, with a Master's degree (if I am not mistaken). Your insurance might even cover a dietitian.

Some sources you might find helpful:

-1st Phorm website and app. They sell protein, supplements, and apparel, but also have coaches and insight you can utilize. It has features to give you workouts each day and log calories. You can see plenty of success stories and connect with other "transphormers" to stay motivated.

    -My Fitness Pal

-The book, The Flexible Fat Loss Solution: The Fat Loss System that is Sustainable for Life by John Gorman.

-The book, Body Sculpting with Kettlebells for Women by Lorna Kleidman.

    Hope this helps.

Highly recommend hiring a professional. Noom, WW, keto, fasting, etc. are all substitutes to hiring a nutritionist + PT and don't usually work in the long term. I spent almost a decade in the fitness industry and the #1 regret by ALL clients is not getting help sooner.

Losing weight = calorie deficit. Period. This can be achieved by using Noom, WW, keto, fasting, etc, but do you want to be doing those protocols FOREVER to keep the weight off? Changing your daily habits in small ways and staying active in enjoyable ways that work for your life style is the best way to make it work for you. Please please reach out to a professional who can create custom plans for you. Smiley heart

This is so incorrect and very dangerous to be spreading to women who are already bogged down by diet advice. Low fat keto? So low fat and no carbs? That's....I'm so sorry but this comment needs to be removed. Carbs do not equal sugar. Carbs are 100% necessary to live a long, healthy, sustainable life.

The best course of action is to avoid eating a lot of carbohydrates and to exercise often. The biggest one is cardio.

Run/walk at least 5-6 miles a day and do weight strengthening. You should be working out at least 5 times a week and ideally every day for at least 30 minutes min. Eat more veggies, less meat and carbs, and no sugar. Don’t avoid carbs if you are doing cardio every day.

Exercise routine should include cardio, ab workout, and stretching every time. Then switch between upper body and lower body focuses.
I’m on my fitness journey at the moment to prepare for my wedding in September 2023! I wish you best of luck!

I also tend to eat a lot as I love eating but calorie intake does impact how much you can lose. So I would also recommend smaller portions. Don’t keep eating until you’re stuffed. Eat less overall and drink more water
