Livestream timeline

Sharonda, on September 5, 2020 at 11:31 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5
For those couples that are live-streaming their wedding day, what is your timeline? I’m having a hybrid wedding (15-20 persons in person) and livestream (150-200 people). I definitely plan to stream the ceremony, but I’m torn about the reception. My reception is more like a formal dinner, but it will have traditional elements that I think my live-streamers may want to see - first dance, toast, cake cutting. I don’t want to break up the stream and am thinking about doing the first dance and toast immediately following the recessional at the ceremony and before formal pictures and cocktail hour. After that, the stream would end. Does that make sense? Does anyone else have any other timeline suggestions or have a timeline that worked? I should note that my fiancé and I are planning to hosts post-wedding parties in our hometowns to party with our families and friends that are not coming to the wedding and view the wedding video with them (which will include the reception). Am I doing too much to try to move some the reception activities to fit into the livestream? Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

My husband and I had a similar timeline problem. Tho it was nothing like this current situation. But we had live music and we thought it be better with a string duo vs a boombox and the cost of us trying to do it the 'traditional way" w/ boombox was more (1.5k to be exact). It felt bad.

Anyways we didn't have the space to have a first dance at the reception venue. And the reception venue didn't allow our cake or punch.... But the ceremony venue did. But the reception venue was good and cheap because it fit our needs of a small quiet lunch party. The reception venue had no room for dancing.

We did our first dance right after recessional and then had some quick family photos did a quick cake and toast. Then we went and had some wedding portraits. We then we went to a semi private room at a restaurant and had another toast, some good food and and went to the hotel had more photos. It was a short and small wedding. The officiant helped us organize it to make sense.
Then we went to our hotel room and binged on leftover cake and Netflix. One of my favorite part of the night was the cuddling with my husband in the hotel room and binging on delicious leftover wedding cake and watching something stupid on netflix. I was so tired at the end of the day.

We are only streaming the ceremony. We are having a cocktail hour, then first dance, dinner then cake. We won't have dancing or anything really after the cake. Streaming anything beyond the ceremony seemed too complicated, as we are kinda doing this ourselves/ with the help of a groomsman. We'll have out photographer from getting ready through the first dance, so there will be pictures to share.

Hi Sharonda! What about just streaming the ceremony live, but then having somewhere where you post and share videos of those other special moments after they happen! You could share them on social media to a wedding hashtag or in a facebook group.

Understood. My timeline is a lot like yours. Streaming the ceremony seems standard, but not the reception. And you’re right — it is a little complicated beyond the ceremony. I’m probably making it way too complicated, especially since we plan to host mini receptions in our hometowns later to see the full wedding video.

Hadn’t thought about that, but that’s an idea. Thanks for the insight!
