Live-streaming your ceremony?

My friend who is getting married in April is doing this. Not sure how it will go...but they added this option for family members who couldnt make it

I feel like the ceremony is the most special and sacred part of the day that should be saved for only the nearest and dearest you invite. For us, our church ceremony was a time to worship and join together under God. I would never have broadcasted such intimate moments with the Facebook world. I think there is something so so special about witnessing a ceremony in person. If you weren't invited, you probably aren't special enough to witness the union.

I really only see this as a good idea under special circumstances like a private stream for family if its a destination wedding, for those who can't travel or are ill, etc.

We haven’t gotten the majority of our RSVPs yet though I’m assuming actually most of the family members who won’t be able to make it will be the older relatives who don’t use social media or anyway. I said 99% not doing it but I think the 1% consideration would be if we get a large number of declines from people who would actually watch it. (Though we’d probably limit the visibility to those specific people, not for ALL our Facebook friends to see)

My friend who got married on the beach with just her husband live streamed their ceremony. It was really cute and they went all out. They had full on wedding attire, violinist, arch etc. BUT, they threw a party about 6 months later back home

There is a strong possibility my grandparents won't be well enough to make it so this would be great for them. Not sure it'll be possible but if they can't make it then I know this would be special for them. I don't want to broadcast it to the world just to the two of them so not sure how to do that.

Going to try to do it, family out of state. I will do it either on pr messages if its possible. If I cannot then FB, which mine is set in privacy that only family members can see my post.

I would live stream only for particular guests online meaning a really close relative who couldnt be there and they would all be sent a separate link to their emails or something. So no problem with live streaming just wouldn't want a mass live stream on a public forum or social media. So a live stream provided by a videographer, not facebook live or other thing. Just because its a live stream doesn't mean it cant be private for only who its meant to be seen by.

I would only do this if somebody super important couldn't make it for some reason. But I would definitely do it in a private video session.

I'm not a fan of it. Unless you make a Facebook event and invite certain people, everyone on your friend's list can see it. We are getting a videographer and I'll send people a video if they want.

Hey, what is everyone planning to be using for their live streaming? I feel like facebook isn't an option, it may accidentally be seen by someone we didn't invite. Elder relatives may have a hard time accessing it and finding the event.

I have some dear friends across the country and in Europe who won't be able to make it, so we're creating a small FB group to live-stream to. I'm trying to figure out how to do it as subtly as possible, so it isn't obvious to the guests... especially since we're requesting guests stay unplugged during the ceremony.

We will be using EventLive to stream our wedding. Great alternative to a videographer and the price is only $49 for two hours. We have a photographer friend who will use the app on my phone to stream all of the traditional moments of the wedding day. The wedding is on the west coast and the grooms family is in Alabama. As well as, we are Veteran's with friends all over. The live stream is by invite only and will allow our friends and family the opportunity to share our moment in real time. The groom's family is organizing a "watch party" during the scheduled wedding day festivities. We are sending his family a "watch party" box with favors, a framed engagement picture for them to take "wedding" pictures. We will also be sending his mom a flower arrangement and corsage that imitates the wedding flowers. The groom's mom is 92 and not worth the risk flying her cross country. This is our solution to have her feel special and included. Our other friends and family will benefit, as well as we will be able to watch it on our wedding night.

I'm looking at this option https://www.eventlive.pro/ it's only $50 and it's unlimited viewers and access to the video for a year...plus it is a full 24 hours of streaming available...not that we'd need that long.

Agree with this. You are inviting specific people for a reason. Those who want to be there will do whatever they can to attend.

View Quoted Comment We used Eventlive for our ceremony last week & it worked great! Our families across the country that weren't able to be there because of COVID restrictions were able to watch our ceremony & leave us a comment with their well wishes. Even the less tech savvy folks could use it. It was super easy to set up-we just used my husband's phone on a tripod. We did have one moment where it froze before the ceremony, but we were able to fix it easily. Just make sure you have a good connection or wifi. We downloaded the video the next day. I would absolutely recommend it!!
