Lets Talk Insurance

Melinda, on January 31, 2022 at 1:46 PM Posted in Planning 1 5

We were just informed by our venue that we need to provide them with event insurance. I've seen so many different companies ( with varying prices) on the web. Which company are you using?

Also, has anyone booked honeymoon insurance in case things get wonky with Covid. We are worried about getting stuck in the DR for another week and having to pay for it all.

Have you already checked with your homeowner's/renter's insurance provider or the provider of the policy that also covers your engagement ring? We were able to purchase event insurance through our homeowner's policy. The only requirement was that we had to wait until 30 days before the wedding date to purchase the rider.

Generally in this time of COVID, I'd highly recommend travel insurance, at the very least.

We are military renters and do not own a home.

We have not done event insurance yet but we are doing travel insurance. With most travel insurance you should be covered if you test positive for COVID whether that be before you leave or while you’re on your trip. It does not cover if you feel uneasy about going or if restrictions change (at least ours doesn’t) and I think that’s the case with most unless you’re able to get “cancel for any reason”.

Try USAA. It looks like they offer property, special event and travel insurance that could cover your needs.

I googled wedding insurance. I believe we went with progressive (I could be wrong). We got married 3 years ago, but I think it was right around $100.
I know you said you rent, but I tried to go through State Farm, who we have car and our stuff insured through, and they have event insurance but it didn’t include alcohol.
