Las Vegas Mini-moon...when you live there!?

My fiancé and I are in the process of planning our honeymoon or even a mini-moon. Last night we thought about a mini-moon because of costs and FH time off.

Has anyone mini-mooned in the state or city they live in or are considering it? We live in Las Vegas and haven't really experienced a resort type hotel (think MGM Grand or Bellagio) so some of it would be different, we could also do a spa day, pool days, try restaurants we've never been. But, would it 'feel' like a honeymoon? Or should we make the drive to some place a little different?

What are your thoughts?!

As long as it's outside your norm, go for it. Being a tourist in your own city is fun.

I agree with Michelle. Staycations in your hometown or state, especially tourist areas, can be very fun. You get to be a tourist and see and do things you don’t normally do. There are so many options in Vegas to make it feel Iike a honeymoon — staying at a resort on the trip, sightseeing, day trip to the Grand Canyon, shows at the resorts, renting a cabana at the hotel pool, nice restaurants you might not ordinarily go to. Sounds like a win-win to me.

No, I haven't done that. Too frugal to do so. I think the closest proximity I would be willing to book a hotel to my house would have to be 100 miles away

I think that sounds fun! You don't have to pay for travel, so you can spring for a nice room at one of the fancy hotels, get some spa services, and eat at a fancy restaurant! It's all the fun of a luxurious vacation without the crummy travel part!

It's pretty fun. We live in Vegas too. The weekend we were supposed to get married, we kept our hotel suite reservation at the Rio for a few days. We had a panoramic view of the strip with floor to ceiling windows and it was absolutely gorgeous at night. Depending on what kind of scene you're looking for, I heard Mt. Charleston is also pretty great. I haven't been myself yet but looking forward to it.

I prefer the foaming free drinks and lovely animals and then almost in the middle of everything
