Las Vegas - Fall 2020 Weddings

Lisa, on April 13, 2020 at 11:09 AM Posted in Nevada Planning 0 4

Good morning!!

I hope everyone is staying safe during this difficult time! My fiance and I are getting married 10.10.2020 here in Vegas and we are trying to figure out if we should move forward or start postponing now.

We are thinking about waiting until early June (if our venue will let us) to postpone. Our contract says that if we want to postpone, we must do so 180 prior to the original wedding date .... WHICH IS TODAY! Luckily, they are working with us and put it in writing that they will give us through May 1st to make a decision and honor the contract. They also said they would be 'lax' but we aren't certain what that means.

Our original plan was to send our invitations in early July and start having them made in May. The stationary boutique we are using is great, it just takes a little while to get all the proofs and send back approvals. We used them for our Save the Dates and they turned out PERFECT!

We have about half our guest list coming in from out of town; half are coming from the Chicago area and some of which are first responders who are fighting the virus on the front lines. We don't want these guests to feel uncomfortable flying or staying in a hotel room.

While our state seems to be ding very well in terms of containment, who knows if the government will allow events right away and if they do, will there be restrictions on guest count... there are so many questions.

So my questions are, what are the other Las Vegas (late summer, early fall) couples thinking right now? Have you asked your vendors what the plan is? When do you plan on making a decision?

Good luck and stay safe!

    Hi Lisa,

Did you decide to postpone?! Your profile says October 2021, and it has been two days since you wrote this. Just checking!

Overall, it sounds like you are WAY ahead of the postponement question. You've contacted your venue, and they're working with you. You have a deadline to decide. Have you reached out to your other vendors re: a possible June 2021 date?

We really don't know when COVID-19 will be behind us, so I think you're doing the absolute best you can with the information you have. If you stay on top of planning as you've been doing, you'll be well prepared to make a timely decision to postpone if it comes to that point.

Wishing you the best of luck! Smiley heart

Hi Lisa, I’m so glad I found your post. I am/was also getting married in Vegas on 10/24 and am unsure what to do. I have tried contacting my coordinator and it seems she isn’t taking emails currently and I’ll have to figure out who to contact at our venue. I live near Chicago and it doesn’t seem like things are getting much better here... I am mostly scared because even when places do reopen, not many people will want to fly or travel to places like... Vegas. We sent save the dates to about 90 guests and I don’t feel like it’s a good idea to order invitations yet. Even though it is farther out, we are leaning towards pushing back because of the uncertainty. I don’t mean to sound like a Debbie downer but I don’t want to be unrealistic either. So really I guess this reply is more for me venting 😬 and I hope you guys figure out what’s best for you. That’s awesome that your venue is understanding and will work with you. Hoping things turn around quickly and we’ll both be getting married in Vegas as planned. Best of luck ❤️

    Hello,

I as well am getting married this fall! 9.19.2020 in Vegas. I have pushed through with all of my plans for the wedding since I saw casinos and hotels opening. Did you decide to postpone?

    Hi Brittany,

We are getting married in October and are still planning. Glad you are as well... we have had some push back but I think we can’t wait for things to be “normal” because no one knows when that will be. I spoke with our hotel and they are booking up quite a bit in their 4th quarter so we are staying positive. Good luck to you!
