My name is Leah! I’m 20 years old and my best friend asked me to marry him ❤️ I’m new to this marriage stuff and I’m not going to lie I’m pretty nervous and scared of all the stress for planning! I live in West Des Moines, IA. Any advice?!? Just Engaged! 1

    If you are looking for places to shop for wedding dresses, Schaffer’s in West Des Moines is great! I got my dress from them and they were awesome to work with!

    I would say the big thing to do is pick a season to get married in and start working towards a date at a venue (and church if need be, do the church first always). Note that 2021 could be particularly difficult with all the postponements

    Congrats! My advice is to enjoy being engaged. Don't rush into planning. Also, don't depend on anyone who promises money unless you already have the cash or deposited the check from them. I've seen so many couples make a down payment on a venue and/or catering and then they are stuck with the bill which they cannot afford because someone's promise of financially helping fell through.

    Congratulations! My advice would be to enjoy your engagement and don’t jump right into planning.


    When you do start planning the first thing that I would come up with is the budget. That way you can start researching everything else.

    Thank you! We were in Colorado and we went hiking to see the beautiful view of the mountains and once we saw the view he proposed ❤️❤️❤️
