January 2022 Honeymoon Recommendations?

Tyler C., on December 26, 2020 at 1:13 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9

My fiancé and I are looking at various honeymoon options. As of now, our two favorites are London and Paris, or Tahiti, but we are open to anything else as well. What are some thoughts and suggestions you may have, either about either of these two trips or different ones that would be a good fit for the month of January?

I think maybe southern Europe (like Spain or Italy) may be good during that time. London and Paris may be very cold, so that could limit sight seeing. Also, it looks like January is the rainy season for Tahiti. Maybe places in South America or Thailand?

Budget? Weather preference? How adventurous are you both?

I went to Paris in January last year. It was definitely cold everyday and I felt I couldn’t get the full experience. I wanted to sit in the parks and enjoy everything. Just wasn’t feasible. The museums were great, food was awesome, and we did the major stops. Just wish I could have enjoyed the outdoors more.

For budget, we’ve looked at a couple of vacation packages that range between $5,000 and $10,000, but no specific budget set in stone.

For weather, we live in New England, so we aren’t necessarily concerned about cold weather since it’s January. Really, I think our only preferred weather avoidance would be a lot of rain, because we don’t want to be stuck inside everyday.
I would say we are somewhat adventurous. We definitely like to explore, try new things, like the outdoors, and getting out of our comfort zone some etc.; however, I wouldn’t call us overly adventurous.

If you don’t want to be stuck inside because of the weather, I wouldn’t do London or Paris. Tahiti would be awesome- you could be adventurous as you want. Check out TripAdvisor for places to go.

So, more like city-kinda trip? Sydney would be in summer but plenty to see in the city. Bali would rain a lot in January, like most tropical island, so avoid anything tropic if you are avoiding rain🤷🏻‍♀️. Europe looks nice in January but it would be freezing. If you are not a cold-wimp like me, go
to Europe, but south side of Europe rains instead of snowing. Or, an Alaskan Cruise? You can choose from North West Mexico or Vancouver all the way to Alaska. You just walk around on each stop and go back to the cruise, or you can stay in the cruise if you decided not to walk around in a certain stop.

I recommend researching costa Rica or New Zealand.

I would honestly say Tahiti over most Europe destinations for a honeymoon! Europe is my favorite place, but it's impossible to see everything you want in a short time during what's supposed to be a relaxing trip focused on relaxing together. We spent two and a half weeks as a regular vacation in Italy, London, and Scotland, and it was amazing, but we had very little time to relax. We were so tired every night that we got back to our Airbnbs, and some nights we got like 5 hours of sleep haha. If you were ok with going to London and Paris and you don't feel like you need to tour a lot of sites, then you could probably make it relaxing.

It's totally up to your preference of what you want your honeymoon to feel like! We figured that we'll have opportunities to go back to Europe someday, even with kids in tow, but a tropical vacation where we do nothing but lounge around and drink on the beach probably won't happen once we have a family haha.
