I used thumbtack.com to look for did, costs, etc. but I ended up going with someone i didnโ€™t know was a dj. My aunt had mentioned to me that my next door neighbor from my old block was a dj and she had hired him for an affair she had. So I went with him as a dj.

It was a challenge. Because we donโ€™t live in the same area as family and friends, we donโ€™t have references for the ones they used that we loved. We skimmed through Yelp/Instagram/Thumbtack, browsed their actual websites and viewed videos they offered. Also browsed local vendors on Tiktok. We had a specific vision that didnโ€™t match with many of them, which quickly narrowed them down. For example, in behind the scenes interviews on YouTube and their websites, there were a number that we didnโ€™t mesh with their ideas on how weddings โ€œmust beโ€ performed or their personalities. Then we met with the ones that we narrowed down and went with the one that was open to going outside the box which most were absolutely unwilling to do. What we wanted really wasnโ€™t that out of the ordinary but it worked at weddings in the past we attended with zero issues: we didnโ€™t want a loud talkative MC and we preferred the night flowing organically, a great variety of music with the reception lasting well past 3am at the same venue. We found them via a deep dive on Instagram/Yelp with great reviews and reasonably priced because they are not a big name.

Hi, I think wedding planning is more fun when you at least two years of planning. No pressure on decision making at the last minute especially if you are indecisive as I am. I'm leaving it to the groom to choose a DJ or a playlist. I'm taking care of the ceremony music...

I do have a feeling I'll be the one hiring a DJ or creating a playlist.
