Is videographer really needed if you have photographer

Rosilus, on December 19, 2019 at 10:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Hello all I am planning my wedding in new jersey my home state for july 11 2020. I am having what you call a "micro wedding" lol with about 20 guests. Alot of people say its easy but its' not with such a small group. I basically want that big wedding feel but with a small group. I did manage to get a nice fire hall in haledon Nj after 3 months of searching. Alot of places in NJ you need at least 75 guests for them to even consider you.. I also did a lot of DIY already have my centerpieces MADE also my chair covers and sashes already. I also have a photographer and dj booked. However my FH would like a video of ceremony only but the prices are way out of our budget. The photographer will be with us the Entire day (ceremony and reception). I'm wondering if not having a video would that really be a big deal or should I get a montage of the ceremony as well because that is something my photographer does offer as well. Considering a montage is cheaper? I just don't really care of how they are made being part footage and part photos. Any ideas let me know I would appreciate it.

I think you should outweigh which is more important to you. Photos of your big day or a video that you can relive over and over. I totally get it that they’re pricy. I’m SoCal a lot if most photographers start at 4,000 alone. We found one company that does BOTH and figured it was worth. You can try and do that . If videography isn’t important to you and you just want cinematic view , you can find a local college student that could do it

    Hey Rosilus!

Does your photographer offer videography services? Would it be possible to ask how much it would cost to add a video of the ceremony only?

Do you have access to a video camera? If a videographer is totally out of your budget, you could set up a video camera on a tripod to capture the ceremony, if that is all you want recorded to watch back.

It is a personal decision. We did not have one nor do either of us regret it. We would rather have physical prints to enjoy vs a video that can't be framed.

My officiant is recording the ceremony for us. I believe he is just using a go pro or something like that, so it won’t be edited or stylized but I’m ok with just raw footage. I don’t have it in my budget to hire a videographer and I really wanted video of our ceremony. So raw footage will do. Maybe look into something like that?

I believe i know the guy you are talking about its the go pro. I believe his name is Paul. the reason i didn't' book him is because of his reviews. if its someone different i apologize it might be the wrong guy

No, my officiants name is Dan and I am in California. I just meant if you have a go pro or a friend does, you could set it up somewhere and get a raw video of your ceremony without dipping into the budget.
