Ireland Honeymoon Advice

Hey! I'm from Ireland so happy to help Dublin is a fab city but also look at a trip to either the Blarney Stone in cork or the giants causeway in Northern Ireland for at least one overnight out of Dublin .

If you rent a car you could drive to either or both. (Opposite ends of end country but you have time)

Also if you want to treat yourself to a fabulous spa try the Slieve Russell in county Cavan by far the best hotel in Ireland with an amazing spa - it's towards Northern Ireland .

I have zero advice for you, but Jacqui76 and LMac are going to Ireland and probably already made their arrangements, and MissGeek is from Scotland so maybe she's visited Ireland as well.

@2016, it seems like Ireland is very "drive-able." I know I've read a lot about Galway and thought maybe splitting our trip half there and half in Dublin? Or do you think that is too far of a drive?

It's not to far a drive but Galway is just another city , if I were you I'd try get some of the scenic experience too . Galway and Dublin have a good night life but those places I said are really cool. If you do choose Galway try check out the cliffs of moher which are on that side of the country roo

About 2 and a half hours will drive you from Dublin on East Coast to Galway on west coast lol it's a small country haha

We are big outdoors people, not much for nightlife or city sights which is why I'm a bit hesitant to have us stay our entire trip in Dublin. We would prefer parks, historic castles, the scenery.

Ok defo rent a car and map out a route, you could probably most of what I've said and more in a week.

Start with a night or two in Dublin then drive to cork to kiss the Blarney Stone, stay a night, drive the ring on Kerry and head up the west coast towards Galway and stay the night, two to cliffs of moher and the head inland, stay in Slieve Russell and spa for a night then drive up the North and see Giants causeways and soak up the North for a night then head back to Dublin :-)

In Dublin check out the book of kells and the Guinness store house, and on the way back from the North stop at new grange - historic monument found nowhere else in the world Google it

If your in Dublin on a Friday evening go into the Porter house in temple bar they have an amazing singer and guitarist named woodsey it's always a great song along

I went to Ireland a few years back but didnt stay in Dublin at all. We stayed in the small town of Adaire at an amazing farm house. From there we were very centrally located to a lot of natural beauty locations. We were able to visit the Aran Islands, the Cliffs of Moher, Kilarney National Park, the Ring of Kerry and Blarney. The only warning I give is be prepared to pay a lot to have a car. The actual rental isnt so bad its the insurance ( even if you carry full coverage on your personal vehicle). Ireland is one of the few countries that most insurance companies don't provide rental coverage in.

Ok if you don't want a packaged tour provider but do you really have the time to arrange your honeymoon? Get a travel agent. Go to www.vacation.com and search on honeymoon experts.

Galway Bay was one of my favorite parts of Ireland when I visited a couple of years ago! Also Waterford is a great city, and you might be able to book a tour of Waterford Crystal, which is really cool! Kilkenney Castle is a really cool castle if you can visit there. Definitely try to visit the Cliffs of Moher, and make sure it's on a really clear day!

Ummm...what else... Sligo was a neat city from what I remember, but still just a city.

The Ring of Kerry is great if you have the time to drive it.

See if you can visit a place called the Muckross House in Killarney. It's an amazing house and has beautiful land. The house has a really cool history and the tour guide will tell you all about it. They also have carriage rides with Gypsy Vanner horses on the property for an extra cost.

When we went, we stayed in Dublin and took various guided bus tours to the other city. I think that was the best way to do things personally, you get to see all of the other major places to see, while not having to figure out transportation yourself and re packing and unpacking. We got to see tons of scenery and castles and lovely things since you drive through the country side. I also highly recommend taking a day trip to Northern Ireland to see Belfast and the Giant's Causeway

It was called Adare Farm cottage. It was just outside Adare. I believe I went through Trip Advisor. They were wonderful and I felt the price was very reasonably priced (if you are going right after your wedding its like $450 a week in October). Its actually a 3 bedroom 2 bath cottage with a full kitchen and a wood burning stove.
