Invitations

Michelle, on January 3, 2021 at 6:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 18
Our wedding is on 4/3/21 in Mesa, AZ. I know typically you mail out invitations 6-8 weeks out. However, I was thinking of sending them out next week with will put it around the 12 week mark. Just really concerned about the how slow the mail has been these past couple of months. Invitations taking a long time to get to our guests & the RSVPs taking a long time coming back. Our final headcount is due by March 5. What are your thoughts? Am I overthinking this & just relax?

I know there is a rule timelines but I do not believe in them. My friend told me her wedding date which is in November and good because I marked my calendar so I do not make any other plans. I feel as a busy adult I like to know as far in advance as possible so I do not make other plans. If you send them now no one is going to look down on you or think you broke an etiquette rule lol.

I would just send them out at the standard time. The mail calms down mid January so you will be fine

I don't think it's wrong to send them out next week, especially since the mail has been very slow lately. Otherwise, I would send them somewhere around the 8-10 week mark to guarantee that they'd make it to your guests in time (and still give the guests time to reply).

Given the disaster that USPS has been recently, I don't think it's wrong to send them earlier than usual

The mail has been awful. My grandmother sent a gift for my birthday from where she lives in Pennsylvania to where I live in Maryland and some how it ended up in North Carolina before it was finally tracked down and they got it put back on a truck to Maryland. My other grandmother sent me a Christmas card almost two weeks ago and I never got. I personally don't think it would hurt anything for you to send them early. The only issue I could see is that guests might back out last minute due to Covid, but they could do that whether you send the invites early or not.

If it makes you feel better I dont see why you cant send them at 12 weeks. The farther you send them out the more likely guests are to lose it or forget to RSVP but one month extra time shouldnt make much of a difference

The 6-8 week timeline has always seemed a little short to me. I’d put your mind at ease and send them out a bit early!

Nope I say go for it! This pandemic has slowed mail significantly. It's better to be safe than sorry! My wedding is 3/27/21 and I plan on sending my invitations out once they arrive next week which will put us as the 10 week mark.

We are 4/10 and I'm going to try to get them out by the 20th or so (it feels so crazy to finally say that!!)

We have a wedding in late Feb we know we are invited to, and have not received the invite yet, though we know they have been mailed. Idk when the responses are due by, but I wouldn't feel comfortable sending mine out 6-8 weeks before because then guests don't have long to decide.

I’m doing the same. I know there is a rule, but honestly I think you need to be know before 6-8 weeks. Covid, as well with changing restrictions it’s better you do it earlier.

    Good luck.

I would definitely send them ASAP! If you have them ready then why not, plus it is one more thing off your list!

I think it's ok, but I wouldn't expect to receive RSVPs any earlier. Honestly, with how unpredictable Covid has been, I imagine a lot of people will wait till the last minute to make a final decision. Also, I think the mail will start to get a little better soon. Between mail-in voting and the holidays, they were extra crazy. I think now that those 2 things are out of the way, it'll probably go back to it's regular level of slow.

I would definitely send them out now! The Usps has been a disaster lately. I would hate if you had to track people down if they didn’t get the invitation and rsvp in time just to get that final count. Good luck and congratulations!

    We are getting married 08/21/2021.
Sending out invites in two weeks, once we receive them. Personally, I did not send out save the dates, mainly because of COVID19 but decided to go ahead with our date.. Our wedding is out of state, just one state over & our wedding venue wanted a final count 60 days before event date. On RSVP cards, it says to reply back by 5/21. Just in case we had some folks send it in last minute.
