I would not recommend international travel at all next year.

Anything you book for next year needs to be fully refundable, able to postpone, or able to reconfigure.

We just don't know what next year will look like.

We just finished our 2nd lockdown in France and we are waiting to see if 'non essential' businesses will be able to reopen end of January. Currently the vibe is that it won't happen. Most of Europe is either on lockdown or curfew. After Christmas, it is predicted that cases will rise again and another lockdown will be enforced. Currently, we have a curfew in place from 8pm to 6am. Vaccination has not started either.
On a brighter note, I'm sure that when international travel opens back up, you will be able to find some great deals. If you need any tips or suggestions for your trip you can always dm me, Paris is my home and it's pretty awesome.

That’s sounds soo wonderful but I would hold off for a bit. Maybe go for your 1 year anniversary in ‘22?

We are also thinking about a honeymoon in Europe next summer! If international travel does open up, it's not about to sell out - so we are going to wait until this spring to potentially book something spur of the moment and hopefully get a great deal Smiley smile

We booked our honeymoon to Paris last April in hopes that things would be better. We have flights and hotels booked. We’re going to wait until February/March before we cancel or reschedule to our one year anniversary!

Travel is iffy, but there's no reason you can't enjoy the planning! Websites, travel videos, tour books (I think that Rick Steves' is good if you've never been to Paris and only have a week.), maybe even going crazy and taking a short course in French for Travelers are all options to help you get ready to go, not to mention getting excited for it. Learning at least a few words in French always goes down well just to use a few words of greeting, polite phrases and key vocab like "beer", "wine" and "bathroom". (But the stereotype of rude Frenchmen who don't like Americans is way outdated; don't worry if you can't do it.) Sometimes you pay a bit more, but using booking.com (or something similar) offers free cancellation up until a day or two before arrival. And look carefully at air fares. That you can leave until late spring to book. If you're a plan-well-in-advance traveler, make sure your fares or either refundable or change fees are small. If you've got everything done in advance, you can easily flip the switch (or pull the plug) at the last minute.

We booked a Maldives honeymoon starting the day after our wedding, which is in mid-June 2021 (we’re in the US). The hotel has free-cancellation up until the date gets closer, and I believe the flights could be rescheduled for a fee. We are just hoping for the best!

For an early summer France honeymoon, I would personally aim for June 2022 given France's Covid situation and the timing of vaccines. But if you find something that is fully 100% refundable with no strings attached, then I don't see why you couldn't start planning for June 2021.

I think that's a good idea. Even for Hawaii, I would not book anything that isn't fully refundable just to cover your bases Smiley smile
