Rosilus, on April 18, 2021 at 11:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

May 15 bride here yes i am eloping but don't have anyone to help me get into my dress its a corset dress so I definitely need help. Witnesses are provided by the venue itself. I wonder can i used a day of coordinator but i don't want to pay a whole lot just for that. Please ladies give some ideas.

It's unconventional, but do you think your fiance could do it?

Gotcha. I remember in a past post you said you were having like 2-3 guests or something. Would any of those people be an option?

Are you staying at a hotel? You could ask the front desk if they would help. Or maybe if someone is coming to do your hair or makeup?

Go for a day-of coordinator! They’ll make your life easier. Little things like: who’s gonna get you dressed or make sure your fiancé is ready and waiting for you or make sure you have everything settled for a smooth ceremony... they’re basically having another set of eyes on the process and they ensuring everything goes to plan.

Honestly, unless the first time seeing at the aisle is really important to you, I’d just have your fiancé go it. My fiancé and I are still doing a “first look” but he came with me to pick out my dress and everything. Even if he still sees your dress, it’s going to hit so much different when you walk down the aisle.

I used to work as a princess, and definitely laced myself into dresses with corset backs allllll the time. Just practice a bunch before the wedding and it'll be fine. It's not ideal, and I'm sure it won't be as tight as you want it, but it is 100% doable.

That being said, I feel like everyone who hires a day of coordinator says it's worth it

Im doing my own makeup myself. Yes I was actually thinking of doing that by asking someone at the front desk to come and help

I would ask at the hotel ahead of time because personally, I would never go to a guests room and help them get dressed. That would be way out of my job description and I would be insulted to be asked. Obviously, from the reponses not everyone would feel that way. I would either ask someone who won't be offended (friend, family member) to come and help you get ready. Or I would hire someone and be prepared to pay. Maybe you could see if someone from the bridal shop is available. Helping someone get dressed is very intimate to me.

A front desk person's job is to work the front desk. If a guest calls them out of the blue and asks them to come into their room to help them get dressed, that would not be an appropriate request. They might not have women available, they may see it as a lawsuit waiting to happen, it is completely outside what they are expected to do. Even if you make arrangements beforehand, the specific person who agreed to it might not be available at the last minute.

I think your best bet is a DOC

Recorded as in photographer or videographer? If yes, will either of those pros be filming you ‘getting ready’? You could try asking one of them if they may be able to help if they will be in your room already for getting ready shots (now; don’t wait to spring it on them day of). Otherwise a DOC or trusted local friend/family member is probably the way to go.
