Just Said Yes July 2020

i don't even know what to do anymore

HI Future Brides,

I don't know what to do anymore. I need to vent. Im exhausted, I'm not enjoying wedding planning anymore. I have had to changed my date two times already and the location once. Originally date was June 4, 2020 in Florida (destination wedding). Then we moved it to July 28, 2020 in Florida. THEN, we changed it to here in IL locally on July 28, at Cantigny Park and the reception held at the golf course.

We dropped our list to about 40 or less people, keeping in mind we will need to include servers and vendors. However, today now we just got the great news that everyone at our wedding, guests and bride and groom, are required to wear masks. We are spending so much money for this place, and we have to wear a mask??! I get it, I do, they the venue is concerned that if pictures get out, they could get in trouble for not following the guidelines.

Me and my fiancé are so upset.. we both refuse to wear a mask on our wedding day. Like we slow dance with masks? Dance with our guests with masks??!

At this point, I'm done with this and just want to be married. I'm thinking of either getting married at Cantigny Park, in the garden as planned, then have a small dinner at a house with cake or drinks. OR Get married in court and have a big party next year.

I have no idea what to do.. what would you do. I'm so upset and disappointed.

    Hi Jessica,

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Your feelings are valid! However, this is their property and they do get to make the call, as it could be a liability for them.

If wearing masks is a total deal breaker, I would recommend doing a backyard wedding. Do you have a larger outdoor space you can get married at? This way your guests can social distance from one another and you can make masks optional. Or, maybe you have a small ceremony now with a larger reception once COVID passes (whenever that may be).

Again, I really am sorry you are going through this! Please let us know what you end up deciding.

Sending so much love your way!

    Smiley heart
