I went there with my parents about 6 years ago! My favorite part was the rainbow pool and Old Faithful Smiley smile There were also bison all over the place that got really close to our car, it was insane to see one of them so close (they're huge!). The canyons were also gorgeous. We went in July and it was actually pretty cold. We're from SC so when it was like 45 degrees in the middle of the summer there, we were very unprepared lol

Oh boy that is good to know! I will be going the first week of September. If you don't mind me asking where did you fly into? We have not quite decided that leg of the trip yet.

Wow I hope to see the bison too! Sounds like you had a great time despite the unexpected weather Smiley smile

We flew out of Charlotte into Denver. My dad wanted to make a whole sight-seeing road trip out of it so we drove out of Colorado and all the way through Wyoming. We stayed at 2 or 3 different places throughout the drive, I do remember we rented a little house in Cody, WY (SUPER small town). I've never considered SC to be a super urban area or anything, but there was literally NO ONE in Wyoming Smiley xd We still makes jokes about it to this day.

It was a nice experience considering I've never been on that side of the country, but personally I would advise against the long road trip option lol. Wyoming was really pretty and looks a whole lot different than SC which was exciting, but after a few hours everything starts to look exactly the same because it's all so wide open. That's just my opinion, but Yellowstone is definitely worth the stop!

We went for a family vacation probably 15 years ago. The park is HUGE, like HUGE. We thoroughly enjoyed doing a day-long bus tour because there is just SO MUCH TO SEE and it's all really spread out. The company that does all the park concessions was wonderful and does a good job, so let them handle things for you. We stayed at the Lake Yellowstone Hotel. It was nice, but pretty basic.

Don’t step on the “rocks” Smiley tongue. My brother did that when we visited years ago and one of them wasn’t a rock... my grandma spent the rest of the day scraping buffalo poop out of his boot. I also had a curious buffalo stick his head in the window and get all in my face while we were driving xD. Just be careful haha.

Not sure if you have a place to stay. But look "Under Canvas" it's luxury glamping and seriously so fun with packages and all. My FH and I are thinking of doing under canvas in Zion for a summer trip! They have multiple locations and the Grand Canyon one is located right behind my parents house!

That sounds like my luck, I will watch off for the "rocks".

I am still working on figuring out my flight, which airport did you fly into?

Unfortunately I can’t help there besides what the internet says, which is Billings, Cody, Jackson Hole, or Idaho Falls. If you’re not afraid of a 10 hr drive Denver is also an option and would probably provide cheaper flights since it’s the biggest airport in the area.

My dad likes to turn every trip into a cross country road trip, he’s never been big on flying xD

No worries, thank you! I was actually considering Jackson Hole because I could swing through the Grand Tetons on my way to Yellowstone!

It was part of a two week driving trip for us, so we didn't fly.... I would guess that unless you go into a REALLY small airport, like Jackson Hole, WY, you're not going to find a flight that gets you right there. I'd guess your best "bigger airport" option might be Salt Lake City, but you'll have a 5 hr drive from there. As I remember, there are at least 3 major entrances to Yellowstone (in different states), and depending on the time of year, there may be advantages and disadvantages to entering the park from each. Also, you'll need to figure out where you'll be staying, because it is a LOOOOONG drive between various areas of the park, so be sure you take that into account. Yellowstone is bigger in square area than several of our small states, and roads are not always very direct within the park. Happy planning! It is incredibly beautiful! Smiley heart

I actually just took a trip there! We flew into Jackson Hole and stayed at an Airbnb in Jackson Hole. I’d recommend to go to Grand Teton as well. Jackson Hole is such a cute town with a lot of neat shops and restaurants. It’s also close to the South Entrance of Yellowstone. I’d just be aware of what’s open depending on what time of the year you plan on going. A lot of places aren’t open until mid March including the South Entrance of Yellowstone.
