Hudson Valley ny Wedding Cost

Kaitlin, on January 5, 2021 at 5:34 PM Posted in New York Planning 0 10
Hi all- my fiancé and I are getting married in 2022 and I was wondering what people honestly are paying for their wedding. We are already looking at 60K. Does that sound reasonable?

“reasonable” is subjective. If you have the money for this budget and can get everything you want in your wedding, then it is reasonable for you.
We had planned a 35k budget for 120 people, but due to Covid we ended up having only 19 people and spent about 10k total

Exactly the same for us, looking at around 160–170 guests. But that's with very specific kosher catering.

Okay we are at 140 guests with family style dinner, open bar, live band, a photobus and a photographer and $10K venue fee. it adds up so quickly 😅

"Reasonable" is very subjective. That price (60k) is three times more than what my studemt loan debt was when I graduated from university. I, personally, would not spend that much.

You’re in a really expensive area, you will for sure pay a big chunk of change!
If you can afford it, and it’s the wedding you want, don’t worry!

    Budgets are relative.

DH and I got married in NYC for roughly $30k. That's considered a bargain in the city, but extravagant elsewhere.

If you go to "Planning Tools" above, you can see the average costs for a wedding in your region. We do live in an expensive part of the country, but there are always ways to save or splurge.

That sounds about right depending on your vendors. I mean you can always cut costs by shopping around for florists, ordering invitations online, and simple negotiating with your venue (although it sounds too late probably now).

Reasonable is whatever gets you the day you want without putting you into financial burden.

I’m also getting married in the Hudson Valley and that lines up with what we’re looking at the total cost being. We found out the hard way that the Hudson Valley is one of the most expansive areas to host a wedding 😅

I'm also getting married in 2022 in the Hudson Valley in the fall. If you are able to spend that, I feel like that is easily the cost of a wedding in the HV - especially in the fall! We absolutely do not have that kind of money so we minimized the guest list down to about 80, are looking on Friday's and Sundays, and I've eliminated some of my favorite venues because of cost. Our goal is to keep the major costs venue+catering+music+photography all under 20K and I think we've figured out a way to do it.

So, is 60K reasonable? I don't know, but it is definitely really easy to hit that number really quick in the HV.

It would be hard for me to spend that much but as you’re in a high cost of living area it’s more understanding.
We were planning on spending 35k for 120 people in a medium cost of living area
