How to involve remote guests?

Laurissa, on June 5, 2020 at 12:39 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5

We're having a very small wedding (thanks Covid!) and the groom's sister is not able to come. We would still like to involve her in the ceremony in some way, but need some ideas! We're hoping to live stream but we're not sure what the wifi/cell reception will be at the ceremony site, so that's not guaranteed. If we have a good connection she could do a reading remotely? Or could pre-record something for us to watch during the ceremony? Or write something for someone else to read? Any other ideas? It really sucks that we can't have everyone there that we wanted (went from 200 down to 30) but we're trying to stay positive.

That’s such a good idea about pre recording a reading you could play.

The pre-recording is a great idea! Then you aren't relying on any kind of cell service or wifi connection.

I think that’s a great idea to pre record. That’s way you’re covered if WiFi gets janky. You could always try to do it live and have the prerecording handy.

My sister is prerecording herself and my niece and nephew ‘walking in’ since my ceremony will be starting 2AM their time. She wants to see it live but we’ll see if my internet connection will support that plan. 😊

I vote pre-record so she has time to work our any technical issues and you can practice the speaker/audio part before hand.

I also vote to have her pre-record the reading. It would be really disappointing to have technical difficulties during the ceremony.
To make her feel more like she's there, you can tell her to dress up and then have flowers and some nice food (and champagne, if appropriate) so she gets to have more of the experience from home.
