How to decorate these awful chairs

Maddie, on June 29, 2021 at 5:01 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11
So my venue is a bit of a blank slate but one of the big advantages is it has all the tables and chairs we need included in the price...the bad news is...these are the chairs

I hate these chairs...I hate these chairs SO much. I wanted to rent some different ones but that will set me back at least 500 dollars (about 200 guests) and chair covers, for some insane reason, cost MORE.
My fiance and my family are telling me to just suck it up because the 500 dollars could be used for something much more useful. I was thinking if maybe getting gossamer or burlap to tie around the top and at least make them look a little less ugly.
Does anyone have any other ideas, suggestions, experince working with any of these materials ? Theme is dark boho, colors are black , grey, olive, burgundy, mauve, purples.
Thanks in advance!

So i saw this photo and i thought it looked nice!

but again, you would need to see how much buying that much tulle or fabric even costs and just putting in that much effort for that many chairs. in the photo you'll see it's normal folding chairs but it looks so nice once you see the simple decor on it

I saw that photo on pinterest too. I know it would take a lot of manpower to do it in a reasonable amount of time. In terms of the fabric, I have a couple wholesale places to check out but I'm hoping I could do it for a couple hundred

I absolutely understand where you’re coming from. The chairs are not great. HOWEVER.. you may be able to make them work with a dark boho theme! If you use black tablecloths, the dark red could be a cool pop of color against the black. And if you have even just a couple red flowers in your centerpieces, it will tie in the color and make it look intentional.
Another option (although time consuming), would be macrame chair decorations. I bought an instructional book for like $15 on Amazon and taught myself. Macrame screams boho! If you like the look, and have the time to learn, you could make them yourself.

I agree with Ava, is there some way you can make them look intentional with flowers and other decor?

On the other hand, people aren't really going to remember the chairs from your wedding the way you are, so it honestly isn't something I'd stress over too much. I normally hate when people say that since I'm like "well, *I* would notice x thing, and have done so at someone else's wedding!" but I truly think chairs isn't one of them. For example, at our venue, I only noticed on our last in-person visit that some of the chairs aren't the same as the others, and the tables don't all match. I went back and looked at photos of the venue from other people's weddings and yup, they weren't all the same, and it looked fine and I hadn't even noticed.

I really think the chairs are fine, especially because burgundy is one of your colors! I think Ava is absolutely right - get a little matchy with putting that same color elsewhere and make it look intentional. Maaaaybe if your color scheme was like, white and blush pink lol, I would suggest springing for the chair covers, but I absolutely think that $500 would be much better spent elsewhere.

I understand where you're coming from for hideous chairs, but at the end of the day it won't matter. You're probably the only one worrying about how ugly the chairs look. As long as they can be tied into your theme somehow, don't sweat it! Smiley smile

Incorporating the color could work and would take a huge load off my mind because...time.

Also, MACRAME-YES! maybe if I had less guests x_x but doing 200 of these, I'd surely go crazy. I am however, making macrame tapestries to go on the walls Smiley laugh Nothing pinterest couldn't teach. Thank you for the ideas!

I would leave them be. Don't want to add any attention to them. Incorporate the color into your florals.

I don't like the chairs at my venue either. Smiley shame
