How to chose wedding colors/flowers

Andrea, on March 3, 2024 at 7:07 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8
Hello everyone!
We're getting married on March 22, 2025 and just booked our dream venue! It will be a Brunch wedding, with plans on making it daytime formal attire.
Now, I have no clue how to chose wedding colors and or/flowers to have some inspo for decoration so it's easier when we hire the wedding decorator. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Obviously consider your favorite colors and flowers first. I knew I wanted calls lilies for my bouquet because I love them.

Otherwise, look at inspiration pictures online. I did a lot of Googling for “winter wedding” when planning mine. As you see pictures, it may start to refine ideas in your head.
Also please consider your bridesmaids when picking the colors. I tried to think of colors that would look good on each of my bridesmaids skin tones. There are some colors that are very hard for a lot of people to wear! You could still use a color you love for other decorations, but consider a complementary color that’s more flattering for the dresses.

    Thank you!
Yes, my bridesmaids are gonna be able to chose (out of the palette of colors) their own dress and style.
    Thanks for the advice

I suggest researching March blooms to start. Local flowers will be more economical than imports. If not moved by flower choice, you can go by the colors of your venue for inspo. Some couples try to fight the venue carpet, but that's a lost battle as you can't cover flooring safely. If neither flowers or venue inspire you, you can certainly look at the colors on your wardrobes, favorite art pieces, or even wedding invitations for color combinations.

I love a brunch wedding!! A lot of people choose decor according to the season and venue. I would suggest looking for "Spring wedding color palette" on Pinterest and see if any of them fit yours and your spouse's likes, and also match the venue (you don't want the colors you choose to clash with the decor of the venue). It helps to choose flowers that are in season also, as they will be easier to source and are usually cheaper.

If Spring colors aren't your thing though, don't be afraid to go outside the box! There are no "rules" for what colors you choose. This is your event and it should reflect you and your spouse!

Congratulations! I'm getting married in April, so just a month after you. We chose blue, white, & silvery grey (not shimmery though). How did I choose? I asked my fiance what color shirt he'd like to wear because there are very things the groom really cares about. Mine was very supportive & said whatever I chose he'd be good with so when he offered anything, I really tried to incorporate it somehow. It's his day too! He likes blue so I built off that. My dress is only slightly off white so that was another color. I had gold or silver left as the accent color & thought silver (in this case, grey) would go best so we have a cool, yet neutral pallet to work from. The guys are wearing denim jeans & a western, button down top in various prints (probably Cinch brand or similar). My maid of honor chose a steel blue color dress from Azazie (get their swatches. They're SO worth it & made it easy to decide which color was best/matched the best man's shirt), & the linens will be the grey color. So I just built off the groom's shirt color. I would have chosen a different color scheme but I really wanted this marriage to honor my fiance as well. I hope that helps!

Congrats! A brunch wedding is a great idea!! Do you have your venue chosen yet? It might be a good idea to look at venues first, to see what types of style/colours will work best in the space.
