How to allow guests to only rsvp for the wedding

Maria, on July 11, 2019 at 1:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

So I have a few guests lists I'm keeping track of like our Wedding of course, Bridal Shower, and Rehearsal Dinner. I am mainly using the bridal shower and rehearsal dinner guest list as a reference for me alone. I do not want my guests to see that they have to RSVP for all three items. I want them to just RSVP for the wedding. Is there a way to make these other two guest lists private to my guests?

Where would they be able to see these guests lists? Do you have them on some public forum? My wedding guest list is private on my Knot account.

As far as your bridal shower guest list, you shouldn't have that. Whoever is throwing your shower should be keeping track of your guest list.

When they go to RSVP for the wedding they go to my wedding wire website and under RSVP they type in their name. They can then say they are attending or not, but what shows up is an RSVP for the wedding, the shower and the rehearsal dinner. I only want them to see the Wedding RSVP.

My mom..god love her... is making me invite the guests I want to the bridal shower that "she is throwing" so I have to keep track of who is coming.

Oh okay. Wedding Wire does their website differently then. My wedding website is through The Knot and everything is kept separate. So, I am not sure how to help you on this one.

Under your Guest List tab on the Wedding Wire site, you can select each event and view the guest list for it. You can then add/remove guests from the list, and it will customize the events they can RSVP for on your wedding site. For example, if I wanted to remove a guest from my rehearsal dinner guest list, I would check their name under that event tab and delete them "From this event".

I still want to keep track of my guest list for the Bridal Shower and Rehearsal Dinner. I just don't want the guests to see it.

It seems to me that maybe this can't be done and I'll have to keep track of this some other way.

Adding/removing them from specific events will do exactly that. You will be able to see who is invited to each event, and they will only be able to view and RSVP for what they are invited to. I have a guest list of 127 for the wedding, and a separate list of 26 for the rehearsal dinner. A guest that is not invited to the rehearsal dinner does not see a tab on our website to RSVP for it.

Sorry, I just realized that you want to invite guests to the shower/dinner but not make them RSVP for it on the site. It doesn't look like there is a way to do that. Sorry for the confusion.

Exactly! I they are still invited, I just don't want them to have to RSVP. Thanks for trying to help though! I'll just have to keep track of it on a separate excel or something.

I had people text me to RSVP for the rehearsal dinner and everyone texted my mom for the shower (she hosted).

That's a really good idea. I should have just had that on my wedding invitation too, would have made everything easier!

Do not keep them on the same account for RSVP. Get one with a separate link for the shower, or rehearsal dinner, or any other that does not include every guest to the wedding. It is considered bad form for any occasion, not just weddings, to let anyone see guest lists for parties they are not invited to. Also, if your mom wants online RSVP for a shower, the account should be in her name. So that people invited do not see that it is going to you, not your mom, which will make them think k you are one of those bad mannered people who plan parties in their own honor, a no no whether for anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, baby showers, oe wedding showers. . . How big is the RD that you need invitations online? These should be separate and controlled by the RD hostess, which may be you, that is fine, but either do them under separate accounts, or if the only way the website you are using is all three on one master list, then put them on three different websites. Do not let the website structure make you look bad. Back a ways, my mom handled our RSVP process, and had the account under our wedding date. And since language issues come up using computers for my MIL, her dinner for the wedding party RSVP list was under my husband's separate posting account name. Many websites allow bride, groom, MOB,or MOB to post on forums and register a wedding date, and each is able to use their account for a party RSVP master reply list . We did not use WW. And our only RSVP online were international and military people, all the rest mailed.

Then why not just let them RSVP on both. If they are not invited to the shower then whrn
theu type in the name it will only show up for the evens they are invited to.

So here's my concern. When my guest go to rsvp on the website. They only see rsvp for the Wedding. How do I add the shower to the rsvp option?
