How much should i spend on bridesmaid gifts?

jax, on April 18, 2018 at 10:06 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

I really want to get something fun and personal for each of my bridesmaids. I have 9 bridesmaids (ah!), so my budget for thank you gifts is a little tighter. I found some really cute ideas but I'm worried they might be too expensive... I also don't want to be too cheap either. What's the average I should spend on each gift?
Thanks!

Buy them something you would if it was their birthday or Christmas. I spend different amounts on my friends based on what they like. One I was able to get a perfect gift for $30, the other loves Harry Potter and I got her a Harry Potter insult book for like $9 but she loves it! I haven't bought bridesmaid gifts yet but I'm estimating around $50 a person. Ultimately, it's the thought that counts.

I spent about $100 pp - i only have seven of them though. we are also paying for their hair/makeup (which is optional - but they are all opting in).

I spent about $50 on my sister who is my Maid of Honor. I found unicorn makeup brushes that she'll love and I got a personalize jar to keep them in. My son is my Man of Honor I spent about $75 on because I got him tickets to see Spongebob on Broadway. Shop like it's their birthday. If I had more bridesmaids I would have picked a price that I felt comfortable spending on everyone evenly and shop that way.

I also have 9 bridesmaids, so I feel you. I'm splurging on one thing, it'll cost me about $100 for all of them (and getting one myself) It'll be a tumbler with their name on it in my wedding colors, but won't say their role or anything so they can use it for as long as they'd like without being reminded 100% of my wedding each time they use it,

I'll fill it with candy, a little wine bottle (or something similar for my BMS that don't drink) and something else small but personal to each of them. I anticipate spending about $30 total on each of them.

Whatever you budget allows. I could justify around $50 per person, but again, that may be different than what you're comfortable with spending. There's no "correct" or "right" amount.

My goal is around $20pp. I found these super cute wine glasses and then I’m going to get them a bottle of wine (I only have 2). For my 3 jr bm and 2 FG I’m getting personalized water bottles with some candy. For the guys, FH is getting wooden beer steins and a bottle of beer probably (he has 9).

I have 11. I went a little more for my maid of honor. But about $10 each girl for earrings and a bracelet, however I did get them on sale for like 90% off on the home shopping network lol

Wow a lot of girls with big bridal parties! Yay! I love it.. I am having 8 girls and 1 guy. I honestly have no idea how much I spent on them. I have been buying them bits and pieces through the past year so it doesn't seem to add up as bad. I have perfume from Bulgaria, Jewelry box from Cuba, liquor from Greece, Good luck statue from Egypt, Swarovski bracelets that I made, etc. Then I put it all in an embroidered bag.

I have five total (2 MOH, 1 BM, 1 JR BM(maid), 1 JR BM(man), it'll end up being around $50 pp! I found these cute overnight bags on etsy for $40 each, and the woman told me she would give me a 10% discount since I'm buying 4, so that's around $35 each for the bags for my girls (they're all diffferent patterns, I picked the patterns out that I thought each girl would like the best). Then I've purchased coffee cups ($5.50 on sale) from Anthropologie for my older girls since theyre all huge coffee drinkers. I'm planning to get them each something small ($10-15) each in addition to the other girls that will be personalized for their interests. I'm still stuck on what to get my junior bridesman though!

There is no set amount but, I think part of it depends on how much they are spending to be part of your bridal party. Are they traveling for the wedding? Did they throw you a shower or bachelorette? Are they paying to get hair/makeup done? etc. If so, then I feel you need to be more generous. Obviously, you don't need to spend exactly what they are spending on a gift but, you shouldn't get them something for $10 if they've spent a bunch on you.

I'm probably going to spend about $100-150 on a gift for my MOH in addition to purchasing her dress, and I will likely also pay for her hair/makeup (If she wants it done). I kept my bridal party small (she is my only attendant) because I knew I wanted to cover her costs and I couldn't do this with a larger group.

Ultimately, regardless of what you spend, you should ensure that the gift is special to them. Buy them one nicer gift instead of a bunch of cheap items. Avoid things that say, bridesmaid, etc. on it Anything you are purchasing that will be worn or used on the day of your wedding isn't a gift for them but, is a prop for your photos. Shop for them like you would for their birthday and get something they will truly enjoy.

Same with 9 bridesmaids! Haha! I think it just depends on your budget...I'm getting each girl a monogrammed robe from Etsy ($20), and a monogrammed tote from Etsy ($12). Then filling the tote with a letter from me, and other personal things. I'm thinking each tote will be different, but some fillers are: nail polish, dollar face masks, mini lotions, mascara, lipstick, liquor shooters, bottle of wine, personalized water bottle, adult coloring book, reading book, fuzzy socks. So I'm probably spending between $40-$50 per bridesmaid. I'm just buying clearance/discount things that would be cute as gifts when I see them! Not including their bridesmaid proposal boxes (already sent) and their hair and makeup.
