How Many Venues?

We toured four. I really wanted indoor and separate locations for the ceremony and reception, but so many places here are set up for outdoor ceremony and indoor reception but don’t actually say that on their website!


I just loved the chapel at the place we chose. My favorite feature was these big old doors on the chapel. I took a lot of pictures in front of them!

We toured two actual venues, snooped around a third (because they wouldn't get back to me about a tour), tried to book a restaurant out, and looked at 3 state park areas... so 7ish venues we decided against.


Our venues we went with aren't dedicated wedding/event venues. We're doing our ceremony at a park gazebo and doing our reception at the pavilion across the street.
I think our ceremony space is adorable! You have to walk across a bridge to get to the gazebo and since there isn't a good aisle, we're planning to have everyone line the bridge for the processional before taking their seats. Our reception space isn't anything fancy, but it was affordable and we really wanted something convenient for our guests. They can choose to walk from their cabins if they'd like - they're maybe 3 blocks apart - and we're excited that there's space to set up yard games

All our guests are traveling for our wedding so we rented a group of 8 cabins for everyone to stay at. And they have to walk across the street and around like 1/4 of the lake to get to the ceremony and reception spots. There's a restaurant to the left of the pavilion we might do a farewell brunch at and a bar a few shops down we might do an after party at. I don't think we could have found something more convenient for everyone!

I believe it was around 10 places we looked at and visited 5 before we found our venue. I love how it is a all-in one site. They have their own officiant(s), multiple ceremony venues, their packages worked for us with our budget, and even though they don't have a on-site spot for receptions they do have partners that coordinate which is where our reception will take place. This is our ceremony venue room that we decided on.

Just one, and we decided right away!

That's a great layout for the reception space so you can do yard games and such. It's also nice that it's covered for those who want shade.

We toured 4, booked one two years out. Then found out a year later that the coordinator never actually booked our date in the venue calendar and took our deposit (among others) After 3 more frantic visits we found this gorgeous, amazing place that was beyond better!
