How long did your vendors sit to eat?

Michelle, on April 22, 2024 at 9:38 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 3
Were they allowed a full break period or did they only get a handful of minutes to eat dinner and hydrate before going straight back to work due to photos, toasts, music, etc?

Our photographer was the only vendor still in attendance for dinner, and he joined us for the whole mealtime. He took photos during cocktail hour, then sat at the table with us for the full 3-course dinner and cake.

Our DJ said no food for him, just his assistant. He did get some appetizers, but he explained that - for him - eating a meal just wasn't his vibe. 🤷‍♀️. Our photographers (husband/wife) ate in shifts, pre-arranged with the venue. We had some cheese and fruit (from the cocktail hour) set aside for our photo booth owner who arrived mid-dinner (the BIL of my son's roommate and our wedding gift from him)

If you are wondering what to do for this for your wedding, the best call is to have an open discussion with each vendor. Are you worried that they will have too much "down" time and not be attentive? Talk to them about your (and their) expectations.

It depends on how long you have them there and if you’re having a sit-down meal. Your photographer is there the whole day from pre-ceremony pictures through your big exit, so I’d make sure to give them a proper break and meal. DJs may be there for a few hours or most of the day, depending on your schedule. I’d say for them you should provide food and let them figure out scheduling when to eat around the necessary songs/MCing.
