How is traveling to Hawaii with covid 19 restrictions?

I see that Hawaii has some restrictions in place and just wondering how it is dealing with the restrictions? Is it a pain? Is it worth dealing with? Should we consider somewhere else? What have your experiences with traveling there with covid times been like?

Thank you!

Not Hawaii but am going to Jamaica next Monday. I’m hoping that all these hoops we’re jumping through will be worth it. Just completed the authorization form & we need to take our COVID test this Friday. We’ve had our vaccines but they won’t take that as proof.

We had been saving up for years , getting close, for New Zealand ( hubby has been years back) and the Cook Islands ( I was there years back.) And we had now been thinking of substitutes. But something friends said weeks ago made ne wonder. What each of us liked so much before was the openness of the people. Accomodations in their family home or lodgings was very personal, more like welcoming an exchange student than a mere traveler. And wondered if either a high death total like in some towns, where 1 in 5 families will have had a death, some 2 or three, or with a religious difference ( including Hawaiian) people will see it as unwelcome and chance the whole nature of things.

Good luck I hope your trip to Jamaica will be amazing! That’s good to know though, I’m in the process of getting vaccinated as well so I feel safe going it’s just how’s many hoops we have to jump through like you mentioned. 😬

Just wanted to say thaf we are literally thinking of the same things! New Zealand would've been our first choice but feel like it'd be practical to have a plan B. Hawaii is high on the list for late fall. I haven't been to Hawaii since covid so would be interested to see what others think!

I think a lot of this depends on what island you're planning on visiting and what guidelines the hotel/resort are abiding by. If you're considering Hawaii, I strongly recommend staying on the island of Kauai. My fiance and I will be travelling there this summer once we are both vaccinated, and the hotel we are staying at has gone above and beyond in their communication with us, ensuring that our trip will be special and giving us tips on all the activities we can participate in while we're there. Since Kauai is more remote and less touristy than the other islands, it seems like there is still so much we can do despite restrictions including spa activities, restaurants, and so many excursions/adventures. Hope this helps!!

From what I know Hawaii is fine as long as you have a COVID test shortly before going even if you're vaccinated. I know SFO is doing the test I'm the airport so other major airports may be doing the same. I'm debating between Hawaii and Nashville for our alternative honeymoon. . . .fist choice is Bora Bora. . .next year for our first anniversary!

This is so good to know thank you! I think we’d be interested in something like that as well since were the Type that are happy to be out doors and don’t necessarily need to go to the big attractions where everyone is going. I’d be happy to just lay on the beach the whole time 😂
