How fast can you pull off an elopement?

Alyssa, on June 29, 2023 at 1:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 2
I have kinda put off planning my wedding for a hot minute because me and my partner have moved across the country. I haven’t really thought about wedding stuff for awhile because of the move and I want to stick to our plan of eloping or a micro wedding in a couple of months and having a reception exactly one year later. I just don’t know how fast I can pull this off. I feel like it might not even happen in a couple of months. We are going to be so busy throughout July and some of August. I wonder if there is even availability for photography for such short notice and who can even show up on his side or mine.

My wedding isn’t my number one priority right now because I don’t have the money or time. Even though I’m waiting to see if I got a job or not, I don’t really want to do any planning because there’s nothing to do. I’m debating on not even doing the elopement at all and just waiting for a ceremony later. I don’t know what to plan at this point because I have so much time till my wedding date.

It really depends on how involved your elopement will be. Just going down to the courthouse can take virtually no planning if you’re not planning to wear a special dress or do photographs. If you do want a photographer, then I would definitely get on that now since they book up so far in advance (although if you’re doing like a weekday morning they might have more availability). Same with whether you’re planning to travel or not because then you’d have to make all your travel arrangements. Maybe sit down with your fiancé to make sure you both know exactly what you’re envisioning so you don’t skip out on something you really want.

It’s not too involved, but I do really want photos and just for the two of us to be able to wear something nice(r) than what we’d normally where. I plan on inviting both our parents, his sisters and their partners, and my brothers and their partners. I don’t know if they’ll all be able to show up, but that’s it. We are eloping in the mountains where we just moved to so the only people who would have to travel are our guests (again, if they are able to show up). The only problem is that we are gonna be a little tight for money for a couple of months and we are still getting settled in our new home and state. It’s hard to think about anything wedding right now. When we get the chance it’s gonna be like really short notice. The only other option is just wait longer.
